    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for enumeration of cells in fluids by image cytometry for assessment of target populations such as leukocyte partial group in different bodily fluids, or bacterial contamination in environmental samples, food products and bodily fluids.
      SOLUTION: Fluorescently labeled target cells are linked to magnetic particles or beads. In one embodiment, a small permanent magnet is inserted directly into the chamber containing the labeled cells. The magnets are coated with PDMS silicone rubber to provide a smooth and even surface which allows imaging on a single focal plane. The magnet is removed from the sample and illuminated with fluorescent light emitted by the target cells captured by a CCD camera. In another embodiment, a floater having a permanent magnet makes the target cells array along a single imaging plane within the sample solution. An image analysis can be performed with a novel algorithm for measuring cells on the surface reflecting the target cell concentration of the original sample.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an examination method and a composition having sufficient sensitivity and accuracy in order to carry out gene diagnosis of the lymph node metastasis from gastric carcinoma, though most of a marker of gastric cancer are not consistently expressed in all of the tumor tissues and tumor cell lines tested and markers are often not detected in the lymph node accompanied by metastasis from gastric cancer confirmed in histological examination.
      SOLUTION: The present invention provides a diagnosing method and an examination kit. The method for diagnosing lymph node metastasis from gastric carcinoma comprises (a) a step for obtaining a biological sample from a patient, and (b) a step for measuring marker levels in the sample, wherein the levels above the pre-determined cut-off levels are indicative of lymph node metastasis from gastric carcinoma.
