    • A target illuminating system is provided for steering a scan optical beam and reducing the size of an optical output aperture. The system includes an array of scan beam outlets being selectively operative to receive and project a point source of scan beam radiation along an optical path. The system also includes a collimating element being disposed along the optical path. The collimating element is operative to receive the point source of scan beam radiation and to output the collimated scan optical beam in a desired coarse direction corresponding to a selected one of the scan beam outlets. The scan optical beam defines a scan exit pupil which is substantially coincident with the optical output aperture.

    • A multi-band focal plane array architecture operative to detect multiple spectral image. The multi-band focal plane array architecture has an integrated readout circuit, a plurality of first detectors integrated in the readout circuit and a plurality of second detectors deposited on the readout circuit. Preferably, the first detectors are operative to detect visible signals and the second detectors are operative to detect infrared signals. The first and second detectors are arranged in a checkerboard pattern, in alternate rows or columns, or at least partially overlapped with each other to realize simultaneous detection in two different wavelength bands. The architecture may also have an additional integrated readout circuit flip-chip bonded to the integrated readout circuit. By forming a plurality of third detectors on the additional integrated readout circuit, a tri-band focal plane array may be realized. In one embodiment, a dual-band focal plane array architecture by forming two arrays of detectors on two individual integrated readout circuit and flip-chip bonding these two readout circuits.

    • A long-handled dispenser device for applying lotion or other liquid material to parts of the body. The device consists of a long arcuately curved tubular handle employed as a reservoir for the material, with a screw plug at its free end. The handle is attached to a head member having a large applicating sponge. The head member has a plunger-operated suction pump connected to rigid inlet tubing extending through the handle to its free end region. The pump has a discharge spout directed into the sponge. A snap-on detachable cover tray is provided on the head member, serving as a lotion-collecting receptacle to receive lotion from the pump when the pump is actuated, to form a shallow pool to moisten the bottom portion of the sponge. For applying the lotion, the tray is detached from the head member. Subsequently the sponge may be dipped into the tray for remoistening.
