摘要： A method of treating a patient with a microneedle array having an active agent disposed on at least a portion of one or more of the microneedles, wherein the array with active agent is characterized by a first optical response when probed with a selected incident light spectrum. The array with active agent is applied to a skin surface, optionally allowed to remain on the skin surface for a specified time, and removed. The used array is probed with the selected incident light spectrum, a second optical response is sensed, and the difference between the first optical response and the second optical response is determined and compared to a predetermined threshold value.

The arrays may themselves include electromagnetic energy sensitive material in their construction, in which case exposure of the arrays to suitable electromagnetic energy can provide the thermal energy required to cause the arrays to relax. In other embodiments, the arrays may not include an electromagnetic energy sensitive material in their construction, in which case the arrays may be heated indirectly, i.e., by locating the arrays within a system or apparatus that includes an electromagnetic energy sensitive material and transferring the thermal energy from the electromagnetic energy sensitive material to the array by, e.g., conduction.

摘要： A hydrophilic, pressure-sensitive adhesive composition prepared by irradiating solid poly(N-vinyl lactam) with ionizing radiation to crosslink the poly(N-vinyl lactam) and thereafter mixing the radiation-crosslinked poly(N-vinyl lactam) with essentially unirradiated plasticizer in an amount sufficient to form a cohesive, pressure-sensitive adhesive composition. The composition is useful as a biomedical adhesive for transmitting or receiving electrical signals as a component of a biomedical electrode. The composition is also useful as a drug delivery device to deliver pharmaceuticals or other active ingredients to or through mammalian skin. The composition is also useful as a component in a skin covering for protecting mammalian skin or mammalian skin openings with antimicrobial agents. A method of preparation of the composition is also disclosed.
