    • PURPOSE:To enable to easily discriminate the lead polarity at the time of assembling products and after the assembly by a method wherein indices composed of a projection or a recess are provided respectively on the main and back surfces of a stem. CONSTITUTION:The index 23 composed of the projection 22 is provided on the main surface whereon a light emitting element 3 is fixed via the sub mount 2 of the stem 1, and the index 25 composed of the recess 24 on the back surface. The projection 22 and the recess 24 are provided on a line which makes an acute angle of theta between a line combining a pair of leads 5. The recognition of the projection 22 or the recess 24 makes it clear that the adjacent lead 5 is an anode lead, and that the distant lead 5 is a cathode lead. Thus, the projection 22 serves as the index 23 at the time of assembling products, and the recess 24 the index 25 for lead polarity recognition at the time of assembling products and in a finished product.

    • PURPOSE:To stabilize the characteristics of a stem by plating Ni on the surface of a flange made of iron series metal formed with an engaging hole for a heat sink and engaging fixedly a copper heat sink having no plating film, thereby preventing the decrease of the heat sink property of the stem. CONSTITUTION:A flange 2 of approximately rhombic shape made of iron series metal formed with mounting holes for a heat sink 4 and a lead 6 and coated with an Ni-plating layer 1 is used for the stem of a can sealing apparatus. The copper heat sink 4 is engaged with the hole plated with Ni on the inner surface and is caulked. Then, the lead 6 is inserted through glass bead into the mounting hole, is the heat treated, and is molten and secured to a glass layer 5. At this time the heat sink 4 is mutually diffused at the engaged part of the layer 1, and is rigidly hermetically joined. since the plating layer is not formed on the surface to be mounted with the heat sink 4, no void is produced in the pellet mounting part, thereby preventing the unstable decrease in the heat radiation and the characteristics.

Here, the stem is positioned by the positioning part 8 in the lower part of the flange 1 and therefore a light emitting pellet 2 is positioned to the central axis of the flange 1, thus it becomes simple and accurate to assemble the element pellet 2 by aligning its light emitting part to the optical axis of the lens system in which the element is to be assembled. Hence, the higher efficieny of assembling work may be achieved and the light emitting element display device of superior quality even glow may be obtained.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a solder layer which bonds a pellet in uniform thickness and prevent irregularities of thermal fatigue inspection level by arranging a flowing-out preventing means for preventing the flowing-out of solder on the periphery of a surface, on which a semiconductor element on a lead frame board is fixed. SOLUTION: A protruding part 9 is arranged on the upper surface of a header part 2 of a lead frame 1, so as to surround the periphery of a region on which a pellet 3 is solder-bonded. This protruding part 9 prevents flowing-out of a fused solder in a pellet bonding process. The region on which the pellet is bonded is composed of a metal to which base metal can be soldered, and a region on which the pellet is not bonded is composed of a metal which does not have bonding property. A metallic layer which does not have bonding property with solder is arranged so as to surround the pellet. From such a constitution, position deviation of the pellet which is to be caused by solder flowing-out in the bonding process is excluded, and irregularities of thermal fatigue inspection level be can be also prevented.
