    • A liposuction apparatus and method optionally having a sonic or ultrasonic source with an axial lumen passage in which the shaft can be made to reciprocate (oscillate) in a non-rectilinear fashion. The apparatus may also contain the concomitant use of rectilinear reciprocation motion in addition to ultrasonic motion or energy along the shaft of the apparatus. The advantages of the liposuction apparatus are as follows: 1) non-rectilinear single shaft reciprocating cannula, 2) sonic or ultrasonic energy delivered to the distal tip, 3) rectilinear reciprocating cannula with ultrasonic energy along the shaft from the handle, and 4) any of the above reciprocating components powered by excess unused vacuum capacity in the liposuction aspirator (suction engine) apparatus. There are three (3) primary sources of energy applied to the cannula shaft: the first is the oscillating surgeon's arm motion (approximately 1-2 hertz); the reciprocating motion (of about 100 Hz); and the optional concomitant motion as delivered by the ultrasonic energy (e.g. 25 KHz).

    • Positive or negative biofeedback is provided by an apparatus using jets of fluid, such as a compressed gas, directed at a targeted area of a body to produce a positive or negative tactile sensation. A stimulus unit is connected to a fluid supply and is positioned on the body, such as the abdomen or back. A sensor unit connected to the stimulus unit is activated, such as by relaxed muscle position or other behavior, which then activates the stimulus unit to open release valves and deliver bursts of small jets of gas to the body. The sensor unit may be remote from the stimulus unit, whereby signals are sent remotely through a control unit to the stimulus unit to activate the release valves.

    • Highly flexible liposuction cannulas are constructed of metal and plastic, with the metal cannulas having diameters of between 2.0 and 3.5 mm, and with the plastic cannulas having diameters greater than 3.5 mm (i.e., 3.5 to 9.0 mm). These long shaft flexible cannulas, when utilized in combination with a reinforced neck, allow the cannula point of entry to act as a fulcrum (with an optional interposed insert) and in concert with the surgeon's guiding hand to deflect the cannulas. The cannula tip is preferably highly beveled with an adjacent set of three openings, and the cannula easily penetrates fibrous fat and may reach fast deposits relatively distant from the entrance wounds. The long shaft, highly flexible, reinforced swan neck cannulas move in an easily controllable manner within the subcutaneous tissue below the dermal envelope in an arciform fashion. Benefits include a reduced need to move a patient's body position intraoperatively. The swan neck has been reinforced to provide the needed additional stability at handle/shaft junction to help the surgeon increase leverage on the cannula shaft. The long, flexible plastic cannula shafts are provided central removable metal “memory” reinforcing wires of varying thicknesses along the length thereof which allow controlled rigidity of the long plastic shafts, and enable the cannulas to be bent into a semi-circle without breaking and yet return to their original shape. Removing of the memory wire during autoclaving eliminates thermal damage at plastic/metal interfaces.

    • An edible fiberoptic light source is combined with confectioneries, in particular candy, to form a safe edible material possessing unusual combinations of internally generated colors and optical images. The basic design consists of a edible food pipes that may be placed within various confectioneries or foodstuffs that elicits light of various colors and intensities while standing untouched and even as the product is ingested. Digestible optical fibers act as light pipes to carry light into confectioneries where different colors and patterns of light are generated as the candy is reduced in size. Indigestible fiberoptics may see use delivering light energy into areas of digestible fiberoptic or digestible optic carriage. The light source and edible fiber optics not only has uses in candies of all types, especially lollipops and hard candy, but also is suitable for frozen food products (Popsicles), cakes and pies with lettering and decorations that emit light. The candy or other decorated edible may be of liquid, solid or gelatinous form.
