    • PURPOSE:To reduce the manufacturing cost and to reduce the size by forming a plurality of holes in the bottom part of a casing in the shape of a cylinder with a bottom having an open one end, inserting a filter member in the casing, and caulking the filter member by means of the open end of the casing. CONSTITUTION:A fuel filter 30 has a plurality of holes 32 formed in a bottom part 31a of a casing 31 in the shape of a cylinder with a bottom having an open one end, a plurality of filter members 33, 34, and 35 are inserted in the casing 31, and an open end 31b of the casing 31 holds the filter members 33, 34, and 35 by caulks 36. In the fuel filter 30 thus constituted, a bottom part 31a of the casing 31 is mounted in a hole 28a, formed in a holder 28 of a unit injector 20, by caulking in state that the bottom part 31a of the casing 31 is positioned facing the engine head side. A communicating hole 28b coaxial with the hole 28a for intercommunicating the engine head side and the unit injector 20 side is formed in the holder 28. When fuel flows from the engine head side to the unit injector 20 side, the filter 30 filtrates refuse present on the engine head side.

CONSTITUTION:A unit injector includes a control device 23 integrally formed with a pressure cylinder for opening and closing a discharge passage 45 opened at its one end to a pressure chamber and thereby controlling an injection timing and an injection quantity. The control device 23 comprises a main valve 30 adapted to receive the pressure in the discharge passage 45 as a valve opening pressure, a back pressure chamber 52 for maintaining a valve closing pressure of the valve 30 and a control valve 24 for controlling the pressure in the back pressure chamber 52. A pressure receiving area of the main valve 30 under the closed condition on the back pressure chamber 52 side is set to be greater than that on the discharge passage 45 side, and a pressure receiving area of a valve member 31 of the control valve 24 under the closed condition on a fluid chamber 317 side is set to be greater than that on the back pressure chamber 52 side.

CONSTITUTION:First and second holder bodies 7 and 8 are coupled together by means of a holder nut 5, the second holder 8 and a nozzle body 9 are intercoupled by means of a holder nut 10, and a first pressure accumulating chambers 21 is formed in the first body 7, and a second pressure accumulating chamber 25 and a control valve chamber 28 are formed in second holder body 8. The first pressure accumulating chamber 21 is communicated with the second pressure accumulating chamber 25 through fuel passages 22, 25, 27, a control valve chamber 28, and fuel passages 31 and 40. A check valve 11 and a needle valve 46, which are energized by springs 12 and 14, are engaged with pressure accumulating chambers 21 and 25, respectively. A control valve 48, energized by a spring 16, is contained in the control valve chamber 28, the communication between the fuel passages 27 and 31 can be shut off by the valve 48, and the volume of the pressure accumulating is variable.

    • PURPOSE:To enable delta-type injection by installing a valve means being controlled according to pressure in a back pressure chamber, in a passage connecting a nozzle to a pressure accumulating pipeline, storing high pressure fuel, being interconnectible to the back pressure chamber to hold pressure acting on a nozzle needle of an injector. CONSTITUTION:A large diametral part 11 of a nozzle needle 9 is fitted in a valve element sliding port 3 of a valve casing 1 free of slide motion, opening or closing a nozzle 7 by a valve body 17 at a lower part of this needle 9. In addition, a piston 23 is solidly installed in a tip of a connecting part 13 of the needle 9 via a piston pin 21. Then, fuel out of a common pressure accumulating pipeline 49 being connected to a high pressure feed pump 45 is fed to a back pressure chamber 31 to be partitioned off by the piston 23 being fitted in a cylinder 29 after selecting it in a gap with a fuel tank 51 by a three-way solenoid valve 53. In a suchlike injector, a spool valve 60, being controlled in accordance with pressure in the back pressure chamber 31 and controlling a fuel supply to the nozzle 7 in the initial stage of injection, is installed in a passage leading to the nozzle 7 from the pressure accumulating pipeline 49.

Respective opening ends of the discharge passage 27 and the auxiliary discharge passage 28 communicate with an annular groove 29 formed on an outer peripheral wall of the distribution rotor 13, respectively. The discharge passage 27 and the auxiliary discharge passage 28 are formed to send out high pressure fuel in the plunger chamber 21 into the annular groove 29, and the inside diameter of the auxiliary discharge passage 28 is set to almost a half of the inside diameter of the discharge passage 27.

The wire harness 5 is composed of an engine harness 51 and a control harness 52, and the engine harness 51 is formed of an inner harness 511 formed into one bundle in an engine to branch lead wires 5110 per fuel injection device 22 of each cylinder and an outer harness 512 disposed outside the engine. Both inner and outer harnesses 511, 512 are connected to each other by a terminal 54. The outer harness 512 and control harness 52 are mutually connected by a connector 53.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent overshoot by changing a correction coefficient in relation to a control signal for controlling a high pressure feed pump on the basis of the engine load rate-of-climb, thereby enabling the actual common rail pressure to follow the command value accurately. CONSTITUTION:The characteristic among the engine speed, the engine load rate-of-climb and a pressure rise correction coefficient for correcting a control signal for controlling a high pressure feed pump 7 are previously stored in a characteristic storage means 100. At the time of accelerating operation, a pressure rise correction coefficient enumerating means 101 enumerates a pressure rise correction coefficient from the characteristic storage means 100 on the basis of the engine speed and the engine load rate-of-climb operated by an engine load rate-of-climb arithmetic means 102, and the high pressure feed pump 7 is controlled by a control signal operated by an arithmetic processing means 103 on the basis of the enumerated high pressure correction coefficient. The common rail pressure can thus follow the command value accurately so as to prevent the generation of overshoot and thereby reduce the fuel cost as well as prevent the generation of noise.
