    • 본 발명은 사이드 크로스헤드 엔진에 관한 것이다. 보다 상세하게는 실린더 헤드가 피스톤과 크랭크 케이스 사이에 위치하는 사이드 크로스헤드 방식을 적용함 으로써 중량과 마찰력에 의한 에너지 손실을 감소시키고 제작비를 줄이면서도 효율 을 향상시킬 수 있고, 내부 연소실의 불순물들을 효과적으로 배기할 수 있으며, 실린더 헤드의 위치가 낮아져 부품의 보수와 교체가 용이하고, 실린더 헤드의 연소실과 크랭크 케이스가 완전히 분리되어 화재나 폭발의 위험이 없으며, 스트로크 비율과 압축비 조절이 용이하고 풀 로드를 통해 경량의 소재로 운행이 가능하며, 피스톤이 아래 방향으로 움직이므로 잔류 카본 퇴적물이 격감하고 잔류 윤활유의 재처리가 불필요할 뿐만 아니라, 크랭크 축의 각도의 도움으로 피스톤이 상사점에 머무는 시간이 증가하므로 폭발시 피스톤이 힘을 받을 시간을 충분히 확보하여 엔진의 효율성이 향상되고 매연이 감소하고, 중력의 도움으로 밸브가 닫힐 수 있어 밸브 개폐용 스프링이 최소화되거나 불필요하고, 피스톤 내부에 냉각수와 윤활유를 효율적으로 공급할 수 있으며, 스토로크 길이와 압출비율을 가변시킬 수 있는 사이드 크로스헤드 엔진에 관한 것이다.
