摘要： Techniques are provided for adaptively controlling an encoding device to allow dynamic insertion intra-coded video content based on feedback information. For example, at least a portion of a video slice of a video frame in a video bitstream can be determined to be missing or corrupted. Feedback information indicating at least the portion of the video slice is missing or corrupted can be sent to an encoding device. An updated video bitstream can be received from the encoding device in response to the feedback information. The updated video bitstream can include at least one intra-coded video slice having a size that is larger than the missing or corrupted video slice. The size of the at least one intra-coded video slice can be determined to cover the missing or corrupted slice and propagated error in the video frame caused by the missing or corrupted slice.

摘要： The signalization of the inter-layer dependencies between layers of a multi-layered data stream is described. A good compromise between a too intensive restriction of the potential diversity of inter-layer dependencies on the one hand and a too complex signaling of the inter-layer dependencies on the other hand has been found by describing the inter-layer dependencies by way of a first inter-dependency syntax structure indicating inter-dependencies between pairs of different values representable by a base layer-ID and a second inter-dependency syntax structure indicating inter-dependencies between pairs of different values representable by an extension layer-ID, the base layer ID and extension layer ID indexing the layers the portions of the multi-layer data stream are associated with. In accordance with this concept, emphasis may be shifted between increased diversity of the signalizable inter-layer dependencies on the one hand and reduced side-information overhead for signaling the inter-layer dependencies on the other hand: for example, calling the sets of layers having a common base-layer ID, respectively, "clusters", the same second inter-dependency syntax structure may be used to regulate the inter-dependencies within all clusters and between all clusters related to each other via the first inter-dependency syntax structure, separately. Alternatively, two instantiations of the second inter-dependency syntax structure may be used to describe the inter-dependencies of the layers within the clusters on the one hand and between the layers of different clusters, on the other hand. Irrespective of the emphasis placed towards increased diversity or reduced side information overhead, the inter-dependency signaling concept results in keeping the signaling overhead low.

In some examples, cyclic redundancy check (CRC) values may be added to video content for video frames to be presented or displayed in a given region of a display. Results of CRC functions for consecutive video frames that use the added CRC values may be compared to determine whether the video content for the consecutive video frames is static video content. Video content for at least one of the consecutive video frames may be withheld from being transmitted if the video content for the consecutive video frames is characterized as static video content. Multiple CRC values or different CRC values may be added to further determine whether video content for the consecutive video frames or for subsequent consecutive video frames is also characterized as static video content. Other examples are described and claimed.

摘要： In a moving image encoding apparatus of this invention, a generated bit amount extracting section (21) counts generated bits of variable-length-encoded data in units of macroblocks, and a reference generated bit count is set in a parameter value control section (22) as an update condition for a parameter value in each block. The boundary value of the parameter value is set in an intra/inter determination section (23) as a criterion for selection of the intra-encoding mode. In the inter-frame encoding mode, the parameter value control section (22) updates the parameter value of a block in which the generated bit count value of encoded data obtained by the generated bit amount extracting section (21) exceeds a reference value. The intra/inter determination section (23) determines that the influence of a data error is large in a block in which the parameter value is continuously updated and exceeds the boundary value, and switches the current mode to the intra-encoding mode to perform refresh operation.

An importance judging section (217) divides the code quantity counted by the bit counter (214) by the number of coding macroblocks included in one transmission unit to calculate an average code quantity per coding macroblock.
