    • An system is disclosed which incorporates a projectile delivery launcher which may assume numerous forms and perform numerous functions, including launching a water rescue preservation device such as a life jacket, military supplies, survival supplies, fire extinguishing supplies, or the like. The device includes a unique barrel having a low friction chrome plated inner surface which provides maximum range deployment of a safety projectile. A unique clutch-type crank mounted below the barrel and houses a thin stainless high strength steel ribbon to provide deployment of a projectile, and retrieval of a victim, supplies or the like. A C02 cartridge system, which incorporates a novel explosive chamber is also used. A method and apparatus of rescuing a victim or delivering supplies in emergency situations, or even establishing a line contact, is also disclosed.

    • A weapon comprising a transportable pod having a plurality of barrel assemblies (10) of the type including a plurality of projectiles (11) arranged in-line within barrel (12). Each projectile (11) is associated with a discrete, selectively ignitable propellant charge (13) for propelling each projectile (11) sequentially through the muzzle of barrel (12). Each projectile (11) includes projectile body (22) in which matter or objects may be transported. Projectiles (11) are arranged with one another and barrel (12) so as to prevent rearward travel of an ignited propellant charge to the trailing propellant charge. The pod can include a direction control means for selectively varying the relative alignment between barrel assembles (10) so as to selectively vary the relative delivered position of projectile (11) fired from different barrels (12). The weapon may be used for military or civilian applications.

    • A projectile comprising a compressed gas cylinder (1) and a nose cone (2) is particularly suited to marine safety applications. Prior to deployment, the projectile is mounted within a launcher (3, 4, 7, 8). When a trigger (4) is operated, a valve (6) on the projectile is opened and compressed gas escapes from the cylinder (1) to propel the projectile out of the launcher. A range of 200 meters or more is easily obtained. The nose cone (2) of the projectile may be buoyant or may contain a buoyancy aid or raft which inflates on contact with water. Additionally or alternatively the projectile is provided with a tether (5). Unlike conventional explosive launchers, such apparatus may be operated by unskilled personnel and in hazardous environments such as oil rigs and avalanche zones.
