摘要： In a process for oxidizing alkylaromatic compounds to the corresponding hydroperoxide, an alkylaromatic compound of general formula (I): in which R 1 and R 2 each independently represents an alkyl group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, provided that R 1 and R 2 may be joined to form a cyclic group having from 4 to 10 carbon atoms, said cyclic group being optionally substituted, and R 3 represents hydrogen, one or more alkyl groups having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms or a cyclohexyl group, is contacted with oxygen in the presence of an added catalyst comprising tert-butyl hydroperoxide and in the absence of any other catalyst, to produce a hydroperoxide of general formula (II): in which R 1 , R 2 and R 3 have the same meaning as in formula (I). The hydroperoxide may then be converted into a phenol and a ketone of the general formula R 1 COCH2R 2 (III), in which R 1 and R 2 have the same meaning as in formula (I).

摘要： The invention relates to a method for oxidizing substrates such as hydrocarbons, waxes or soot. The method involves the use of a compound of formula (I) in which: R and R represent H, an aliphatic or aromatic alkoxy radical, carboxyl radical, alkoxycarbonyl radical or hydrocarbon radical, each having 1 to 20 hydrocarbon atoms, SO3H, NH2, OH, F, Cl, Br, I and/or NO2, whereby R and R designate identical or different radicals or R and R can be linked to one another via a covalent bonding; Q1 and Q2 represent C, CH, N, CR , each being the same or different; X and Z represent C, S, CH2, each being the same or different; Y represents O and OH; k = 0, 1, 2; l = 0, 1, 2; m = 1 to 3, and; R represents one of the meanings of R . Said compound is used as a catalyst in the presence of a radical initiator, whereby the molar ratio of the catalyst to the hydrocarbon is less than 10 mol %. Peroxy compounds or azo compounds can be used as the radical initiator. Preferred substrates are aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbons.

The process involves: (a) providing an isomeric mixture comprising a major amount of a para-di (alkyl-substituted)aromatic compound; wherein a first alkyi substituent is a C3 to C8 alkyl moiety and a second alkyl substituent is a C4+n to C8+n linear alkyl moiety, and further wherein the second alkyl substituent is at least one carbon atom greater than the first alkyl substituent; (b) subjecting the above isomeric mixture to oxidation conditions in the presence of an oxygen-containing source, converting the first alkyl substituent which is a C3 to C8 alkyl moiety to a hydroperoxide-containing substituted moiety; and (c) converting the hydroperoxide-containing substituted moiety to a hydroxyl moiety thereby providing an isomeric mixture comprising a major amount of a para-linear mono-alkyl-substituted hydroxyaromatic compound.

摘要： In a process for oxidizing a hydrocarbon to a corresponding hydroperoxide, alcohol, ketone, carboxylic acid or dicarboxylic acid, the hydrocarbon is contacted with an oxygen- containing gas in the presence of a catalyst comprising a cyclic imide of the general formula (I); wherein each of R 1 and R 2 is independently selected from hydrocarbyl and substituted hydrocarbyl radicals having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, or from the groups SO 3 H, NH 2 , OH and NO2, or from the atoms H, F, Cl, Br and I provided that R 1 and R 2 can be linked to one another via a covalent bond; each of Q 1 and Q 2 is independently selected from C, CH, N and CR 3 ; each of X and Z is independently selected from C, S, CH 2 , N, P and elements of Group 4 of the Periodic Table; Y is O or OH; k is O, 1, or 2; 1 is 0, 1, or 2; m is 1 to 3, and R 3 can be any of the entities listed for R 1 . The contacting produces an effluent comprising an oxidized hydrocarbon product and unreacted imide catalyst of said formula (I) and the effluent is treated with a solid sorbent to remove at least part of the unreacted imide catalyst and produce a treated effluent comprising said oxidized hydrocarbon product. The organic phase can then be recovered.

The hydroperoxide of formula (II) may then be converted to a phenol and an aldehyde or a ketone of the general formula R 1 COCH 2 R 2 (III), in which R 1 and R 2 have the same meaning as in formula (1). In the case where the ketone is cyclohexanone, this may then be dehydrogenated to produce further phenol.
