    • A microwave oven (10) combined with convention heater (s) includes first and second chambers (12, 13) separated from one another by a partition including first and second spaced panels (14, 15) defining a cavity (20) therebetween. These panels (14, 15) are metallic, except where the waveguide passes through rectangular gaps in them, in which are situated non-metallic, infrared-absorbing panels (27, 28). A microwave generator in the second chamber (13) generates microwaves for heating a product in the first chamber (12). A stream of cooling air reduces the temperature within the cavity (20) to insulate the second chamber (13) from heat emitted from the first chamber (13) in operation of the conventional heater(s). The infrared absorbing panels (27, 28) permit passage of microwaves through the partition to the first chamber (12) for microwave heating of the product while absorbing infrared radiation from the hot first chamber (12) that would otherwise travel back through the waveguide and thermally damage the heat-sensitive microwave generator.

    • A microwave oven has a cabinet with a front frame surrounding an entry opening into the oven. A door engaged with the cabinet is in a position for sealing the entry opening as with conventional microwave ovens. A continuous ridge extensive outwardly from the inside door surface is positioned opposite to a groove extensive inwardly into the surface of the frame and opposite the ridge. Multiple ridges and opposing grooves may be similarly positioned. When the door is closed, ridges enter the grooves. Seals are positioned within the grooves and provide a means for preventing the door from contact with the frame. A visual path into the oven interior is arranged within a window frame with components including: a door film, a screen, a foam gasket, a peripheral strip, and a window.
