    • An apparatus for interconnecting at least two power supply cables is disclosed, the apparatus comprising a conductive block portion including a first through aperture and a second through aperture each of the apertures being adapted to receive a conductive end portion of one of the power supply cables; and each of the apertures further comprising a clamping means for fixing the conductive end portion firmly to a first wall portion of the aperture. The clamping means can further include a first plate including a surface adapted to mate with a corresponding surface of the block portion so as to form a second wall portion of the aperture, the plate being fixed in a direction perpendicular to the supply cable; and a screw bolt mounted through a plate aperture in the first plate and adapted to engage a conductive end portion of a corresponding power supply cable, the screw bolt engaging a thread in the plate aperture so as to fix the conductive end portion to the first wall upon tightening of the screw bolt. The conductive block portion can further include a distribution means comprising at least one further aperture adapted for the insertion of a rigid pole so as to provide a means for taping off power interconnections to the conductive block portion. Preferably, the aperture comprises an exterior lip portion of the conductive block portion.

    • A gel-sealed splicing connector assembly (2), for example for telecommunications cable splicing, is provided with an end cover (40) having pre-mounted sealing gel (42). The end cover (40) is mountable against a wire exit end (34) of the connector assembly, to seal holes resulting from the removal of large wires that are trimmed by cutting blades (17) positioned in wire receiving cavities of the connector housing. The cover does not substantially increase the volume of the connector, can be mounted to the pre-sealed connector assembly without requiring tooling, and can be easily removed and repaired (contrary to known sealant boxes), and ensures that even for large wires, the connector is reliably sealed.
