    • An arrangement for forming a stub splice between two or more elongate electrical conductors comprises a hollow electrical connector and a hollow cap containing a quantity of gel. In use, the cap engages an open end of the connector, and the elongate conductors extend through the open end of the connector and through one or more apertures contained in the cap. Once the cap is engaged, the gel is compressed and the splice is sealed against moisture ingress. In order to ensure that the gel is maintained under compression, the cap may optionally contain a quantity of non-gelatinous resiliently compressible material which substantially compensates for any changes in the volume of gel.

    • A gel-sealed splicing connector assembly (2), for example for telecommunications cable splicing, is provided with an end cover (40) having pre-mounted sealing gel (42). The end cover (40) is mountable against a wire exit end (34) of the connector assembly, to seal holes resulting from the removal of large wires that are trimmed by cutting blades (17) positioned in wire receiving cavities of the connector housing. The cover does not substantially increase the volume of the connector, can be mounted to the pre-sealed connector assembly without requiring tooling, and can be easily removed and repaired (contrary to known sealant boxes), and ensures that even for large wires, the connector is reliably sealed.

    • A device (1) for forming an electrical connection at the end of a bundle of wires (2) comprises an electrically insulating, preferably heat-shrinkable, sleeve (3), a metallic connecting element (4) located within the sleeve, and a quantity of solder (8) for forming a permanent electrical connection between the conductors. The connecting element (4) has a tapering internal surface which has a screw thread so that a temporary electrical connection can be formed by screwing the bundle of wires into the connecting element. Preferably the connecting element is formed by winding a wire, e.g. hard tempered copper wire, into a frusto-conical form. Splices in wire bundles may be made by means of a device in which the connecting element has a pair of internally threaded portions into which different cable bundles can be screwed.

    • A twist-on spring connector includes a multi-piece connector assembly in which a wire or wire bundle is first joined together and subsequently encapsulated into a moisture-resistant sealant. A shell has an open end, a closed end, spaced apart landings including shoulders adjacent the open end and a sealant material in the closed end. A spring holder has sealant passages and spaced apart flanges. The spring holder is mounted in the shell so that the flanges engage the landings. The flanges are limited from movement in a first direction by the shoulders during wire insertion and are movable in a second direction to channels between the landings permitting the spring holder to move toward the closed end of the shell and receive sealant in the sealant passages. An end cap is mounted in the open end of the shell so that the spring holder is retained in the shell and the flanges of the spring holder are movable relative to the landings.

    • A twist-on wire connector includes a closed end, an open end and an interior wall defining an elongated cavity. Grooves are provided in the cavity adjacent the first end. The grooves extend radially outwardly toward the wall of the cavity. Ribs extend along the walls. Each rib has a first terminal end aligned adjacent an associated one of the grooves. Each rib has a contoured surface which is convex in a direction transverse to the length of the rib. A helical coil wire insert has a contoured surface for mating engagement with the contoured ribs. The insert has a terminal wire end extending radially into one of the grooves. An annular undercut protrudes from the wall adjacent a second terminal end of each rib. The insert has an enlarged annular end engaged with the undercut, whereby the insert is retained in press-fit engagement within the cavity.

    • A connector for connecting at least one stripped conductor end-part (23) of a cable (20) includes a first body (1) having a through-passing cable transit or channel (2), and a second body (10) that includes a recess (16) for receiving the first body and the cable end-part (23), folded down onto the perimeter surface (5) of the first body (1).     • Jointing clamp (1) intended for electrical conductors and comprising an insulating, conical outer housing (2) having arranged therein a similarly conical inner sleeve (3).
