摘要： The present invention relates to a method of recording marks representing data in an information layer of a record carrier by irradiating the information layer by means of a pulsed radiation beam, each mark being written by a sequence of pulses, the recorded marks being erasable by irradiating the information layer with an erase radiation beam. In order to achieve a reduction of the temperature of a transparent heat sink of a dual-layer optical recording medium without compromising the direct overwrite of old data, it is proposed according to the present invention that said erase radiation beam has a first erase power level (e1) for a first erase period (t1), a second erase power level (e2) higher than or equal to said first erase power level (e1) for a second erase period (t2), and a third erase power level (e3) lower than said second erase power level (e2) for a third erase period (t3).

摘要： Apparatus and method for selectively enabling writing of data multiple times onto a write-once read-many optical disk by a host system, the disk having a disk type indicator, and each sector having a SWF field and a flag field and user data, wherein new data bits replace existing data bits in a one-for-one ratio without mapping. The apparatus comprises an optical disk drive having: a spindle motor rotating an optical disk; an optical assembly/laser generating a laser beam adapted to heat a minute region on the optical disk; a bias magnet affecting the polarity of the heated region; a write/read channel driving the optical assembly/laser and bias magnet; a write/read controller adapted to process a unique erase command and thereby controlling the optical assembly/laser and bias magnet to write every user data bit of a sector to zero in a one-for-one ratio without mapping; and a small computer system interface receiving write commands from a host system.

摘要： The present invention provides methods and apparatuses for writing information to, reading information from, and erasing information on a luminescent data storage medium comprising Al 2 O 3 . The method includes writing and erasing of the information using photoionization via sequential two-photon absorption and non-destructive reading the information using one-photon absorption and confocal fluorescent detection. The apparatuses for writing and reading the information incorporate confocal detection and spherical aberration correction for multilayer volumetric fluorescent data storage. The methods also allow multilevel recording and readout of information for increased storage capacity.

摘要： A novel series of azo polymers, copolymers and polymer blends for reversible optical storage devices are described. Various azobenzenes can be bound in the side chain or within the main chain of long chain polymers such as polyester, polystyrene and poly methacrylates with very short or no spacers to form amorphous polymers which as a film or deposited on a transparent substrate can be used to record optical information using a linearly polarized laser beam which induces optical anisotropy in the film. The information can be erased thermally by heating above the glass transition temperature, or optically by overwriting with light polarized in a predefined zero direction or with circularly polarized light.

摘要： A method of recording and erasing of information on an optical carrier consists in using an optical information carrier (1) with a sealed chamber (2), which has a working surface (3) with a recording medium (4) and an auxiliary surface (5), in introducing into the sealed chamber (2) an active chemical substance chemically affined with the material of the recording medium (4) and in forming or deleting at least one information unit by removing and/or applying a layer of the recording medium (4) by means of applying energy to the recording medium (4). The removing and applying of the layer of the recording medium (4) are effected by carrying out chemical reactions between the material of the recording medium (4) and the chemical substance chemically affined with the material of the recording medium. An optical memorization device for recording and erasing of information on an optical carrier comprises a radiation source influencing the optical information carrier (1) with the sealed chamber (3), which has a working surface (3) with the recording medium (4) and an auxiliary surface (5), these surfaces being in thermal contact with a heater (11). The sealed chamber (2) has the active chemical substance (6) chemically affined with the material of the recording medium (4).
