    • High accuracy sin-cos wave and frequency generators, and related systems and methods. In non-limiting embodiments disclosed herein, the sin-cos wave generators can provide highly accurate sin-cos values for sin-cos wave generation with low hardware costs and small lookup table requirements. The embodiments disclosed herein may include a circuit to conduct an arithmetic approximation of a sin-cos curve based on a phase input. The circuit may be in communication with a point lookup table and a correction lookup table. The tables may receive the phase input and match the phase input to main sin-cos endpoints associated with the phase, and to a correction value for the phase. These values which are selected based on the phase input, may be communicated to a converter circuit where the arithmetic functions are applied to the values resulting in a sin-cos curve value.

    • Circuitry for computing a trigonometric function of an input includes circuitry for relating the input to another value to generate an intermediate value, circuitry for selecting one of the input and the intermediate value as a trigonometric input value, circuitry for determining respective initial values of a plurality of trigonometric functions for the trigonometric input value, and circuitry for deriving, based at least in part on a trigonometric identity, a final value of the first trigonometric function from the respective initial values of the plurality of trigonometric functions. The trigonometric function may be any of sine, cosine and tangent and their inverse functions. The trigonometric identities used allow a computation of a trigonometric function to be broken into pieces that either are easier to perform or can be performed more accurately.

    • A digital memory (10) which contains digital data words representative of a desired symmetrical transfer characteristic of a digital signal processor. Digital signals which are to be processed are applied to the address inputs of the memory (10), producing output signals in conformance with the desired transfer characteristic. Advantage is taken of the symmetrical nature of the response characteristic to minimize the size of the memory. Data words corresponding to only a portion of the full dynamic range of the digital signal processor are stored in the memory (10), and memory locations are addressed and read out in accordance with the value of a polarity-determining bit of the input digital signal, with the output signals being translated over the required full dynamic range in accordance with the value of the polarity-determining bit. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the memory (10) is a random access memory, with stored data values being altered in response to a user control to change the transfer characteristic of the processor.
