    • This invention relates to a method and to a device for the implementation of said method, for selectively picking up some frequencies of a radiative spectrum, for a first use and, at the same time, to use the residual frequencies for thermal purposes. The method is characterized in that it includes the following steps: • to pick up said electromagnetic radiation; • to induce the reflection of said one or more frequencies using a reflector coloured by colours corresponding to said one or more frequencies; • to receive said one or more frequencies reflected by said coloured reflector; • to convey said one or more received frequencies towards a user device; • to use said residual frequencies for increasing the temperature of said coloured reflector; • to take the thermal energy produced by said coloured reflector. The device (A) is characterized in that it includes: - first means (3), fitted to reflect said one or more frequencies and to absorb said residual frequencies, in such a way to produce thermal energy, said first means (3) being coloured by one or more colours corresponding to said frequencies to be reflected; • second means (5), fitted to receive said one or more frequencies reflected by said first means (3) and to transmit them to a user device.

    • A solar collector element comprises a wooden frame (3) having longitudinal frame members (5) and cross members (6, 7) which are fastened to a back panel (4). The insulating material (8) is inserted in the frame between the cross members. Located on top of the cross members (6, 7) and the insulating material (8) is a pipe coil (10) which has a plurality of lengths of pipe (11) that run substantially horizontally at a small angle to each other, and each is provided with a heat-absorbing aluminium plate (12, 13) which, with one (14) of its longitudinal edge portions, surrounds the respective length of pipe (11). The outward side of the framework (3) is covered by a panel, preferably a corrugated panel (20) of polycarbonate. When using solar collectors (1) for dwelling houses, several such solar collector elements are placed adjacent to each other and connected in series, optionally so as to cover most of the height of the roof between the gutter and the ridge. In such cases, all the solar collector elements are covered by a single large panel (2) in order to provide an outer roof which has no joins that could leak and off which snow can easily slide. The solar collector elements will be easy to handle and mount, and they will be able to provide a large, efficient and reliable solar collector surface at relatively modest costs.

    • This invention relates to a water heater comprising a water tank (1) having a wall (2) formed from material having heat transfer properties and a cold water inlet (5) adjacent one end of the tank. A tube (8), adapted to carry a refrigerant fluid, is secured externally about the tank wall (2). Heat-conductive material is provided along the length of the tube, with the tube and the heat-conductive material in heat-conductive contact with the external surface of the wall of the tank to transfer heat from condensation of the refrigerant fluid in the tube through the wall to the water contained in the tank (1). An evaporator (15) is positioned so as to be exposed to ambient conditions for absorbing heat energy from the ambient conditions. The evaporator is provided with a passage for carrying the refrigerant fluid whereby the fluid may be heated by the ambient conditions. A compressor (12) is connected to the passage and to the tube (8) so as to circulate the refrigerant fluid through the tube and to the evaporator (15).
