    • Disclosed herein is an integrated power generation and load driving system (1), comprising in combination: a multi- shaft gas turbine engine (3) comprising a high-pressure turbine (316) me¬ chanically coupled to an air compressor (312); and a low-pressure turbine (320), fluidly coupled to but mechanically separated from the high-pressure turbine (316) and mechanically coupled to an output power shaft (11); wherein the output power shaft (11) is connected to a shaft line (9); an electric generator (5), mechanically coupled to the shaft line (9) and driven into rotation by the gas turbine engine (3); a rotating load (7), mechanically coupled to the shaft line (9) and driven into rotation by the gas turbine engine (3); a load control arrangement, configured for controlling at least one operating param¬ eter of the rotating load (7) to adapt the operating condition of the rotating load (7) to process requirements from a process (13), whereof the rotating load (7) forms part, while the low-pressure turbine (320) of the gas turbine engine (3) and the electric generator (5) rotate at a substantially constant speed, which is independent form the speed of the high-pressure turbine (316).
