    • This invention relates to a door latch for use with a soft-sided door closure in a door opening of a utility vehicle. The latch includes an elongated cupshaped housing having a back wall, side walls extending forwardly from the back wall and a laterally extending flange extending outwardly around the periphery of the side walls generally parallel to the back wall. The flange includes means for attaching the housing to the door closure and the back wall has a circular opening adjacent one end thereof. An outside door handle member is sized to fit within the length of the housing and has a lever arm formed integrally with a cylindrical body at one end thereof. A sleeve connected to the cylindrical body is extendable through and pivotal in the circular opening. An inside elongated handle member has a length greater than the length of the housing with a handle arm which extends beyond the housing in a forward direction and an offset flange at the opposite end with a releasable locking means formed therein. The inside handle member is fixedly attached to the cylindrical body of the outside handle member for rotation therewith in the circular opening between a latched position and an unlatched position. Spring means is connected to one of the handle members normally urging them toward the latched position. A striker member is mountable on the door opening and positionable to be engaged by the releasable locking means to hold the door closure in closed position when the handle members are in the latched position.

    • A handle mechanism (10) includes a gear drive (34) having an interior end (36) and an exterior end (38); an inside handle (32) fixed to the interior end (36); a button (56); a finger (50); a handle drive (48); an outside handle (22); and a spring (54). The button (56) has an interior end (58) and an exterior end (60), which is positioned within the exterior end (38) of the gear drive (34). The handle drive (48) is positioned within the exterior end (38) of the gear drive (34) and is rotatable relative thereto. The outside handle (22) and the handle drive (48) rotate together. The outside handle (22) moves between a first position, wherein it is constrained from rotation, and a second position. The finger (50) is fixed to the exterior end (60) of the button (56), which moves between a first position, wherein the finger (50) causes the gear drive (34) and the handle drive (48) to rotate together, and a second position. The spring (54) biases the button (56) and the outside handle (22) toward their first positions.

    • A interconnected lock has adjustable offset spacing between latchbolt and deadbolt lock mechanisms, and a sliding pusher mechanism therebetween. The pusher mechanism is operable upon operation of an interior actuator to bear against the deadbolt lock mechanism and move the deadbolt along the second axis from the latched to the unlatched position at the same time that the operation of the interior actuator moves the latchbolt along the first axis from the latched to the unlatched position. The pusher mechanism includes an arm that bears against the deadbolt lock mechanism and may be retracted and extended between a first length and a second, longer length when changing offset spacing between the deadbolt and latchbolt. The arm is extendable from the first length to the second length without adding or removing any components thereof.
