摘要： The present invention provides a system for tanning leather comprising from at least two tanning compositions to be used in sequence. First composition consists of zeolite having a Si to Al ratio from 0.7 to 2.5, treated with concentrated aliphatic monocarboxylic acid, the concentration of said monocarboxylic acid being more than 84% by weight, resulting in a zeolite structure which remains intact after said treatment; acidic metal salt; and a complexing agent. This first composition is in a form of a powdery solid having moisture content less than 25 %. The second composition consists of the mere zeolite treated with concentrated aliphatic monocarboxylic acid. Moreover, a method for tanning leather using said system is provided subjecting the hide to be treated to a beam house treatment followed by a modified pickling stage using a solution having a baume value less than 5 and pH from 3 to 6.

摘要： A novel synthetic aluminium tanning agent as an alternative for chromium based tanning salts without using formaldehyde was prepared by using aromatic polymeric matrix and aluminium (III) salts as raw materials with suitable masking agents. The preparation of the syntan consists of sulphonation of aromatic molecule, which is incorporated with a polymeric network along with ligands specially designed for the complexation of aluminium (III) salts. The complex can be used as self-tanning agent in leather industry with fairly good filling behavior. The tanned leathers exhibit shrinkage temperature about 85 °C. Due to the higher precipitation point of the product, it can be used for tanning directly after deliming thus eliminating the pickling process. This product, unlike the conventional phenol based products, does not undergo photo-oxidation thereby preventing the discoloration of the tanned leathers.

摘要： Coated Fibrous Substrates The present invention provides a method of improving the adhesion of coatings to fibrous base materials. The method comprises treating a fibrous base material with one or more salt(s) of receptor species to provide a pre-coated fibrous base material comprising specific inorganic receptor sites within the fibrous base material. The one or more salt(s) of receptor species is selected from the groups comprising: (a) aluminium salts; (b) titanium salts; (c) zirconium salts; (d) iron salts; (e) soluble alkali silicates; or a combination thereof. The method further comprises coating the treated fibrous base material with a coating formulation comprising one or more compound(s) containing epoxy and alkoxysilane groups. The coating formulation acts as an adhesion promoter and cross-linker.

The process of tanning using novel composition according to the present invention provides a pre-tanned and tanned leather having high shrinkage temperature, suppleness and white in color to make white and light colored leathers with improved light fastness.
