摘要： Process for recovering chemicals and energy from cellulose waste liquors preferably black kraft liquor obtained in a paper pulp sulphate process, comprising the following, three distinct and separate steps: In the first step the concentrated black liquor is gasified in a pressurized gasification reactor by so called flash-pyrolysis at 700 to 1300oC, normally 800-900oC, whereby an energy rich gas is produced, and in which the inorganic chemicals of the black liquor are contained in the form of molten suspended droplets, mainly comprising sodium carbonate and sodium sulphide. In the second step the gas from the gasification reactor is rapidly cooled through direct contact with water, and with green liquor, which is formed when the molten droplets and the hydrogen sulphide are dissolved in the quench liquid. The cooled gas subsequently passes through a scrubber. In the lower section of the scrubber the gas is washed with circulating green liquor, and in the upper section of the scrubber the gas is washed with sodium hydroxide (or carbonate) solution and water for complete removal of any remaining sulfur bearing components in the gas. In the third step the now sulfur and particulate-free gas is used as a fuel for generating steam and, if it should be economically justified, also for production of electric power.

Each of the gasification reactors may be supplied with the feedstock from a single or separate catalyst loading and/or feedstock preparation unit operations. Similarly, the hot gas streams from each gasification reactor may be purified via their combination at a heat exchanger, acid gas removal or methane removal unit operations. Product purification may comprise trace contaminant removal units, ammonia removal and recovery units, and sour shift units.

Power (1 14) is generated from the combustion gas, including by combusting (78) the combustion gas in the presence of oxygen and in the presence of at least a portion of the separated CO2 as moderating agent to produce a hot combusted gas (106) which includes CO 2 . The CO2 is recycled (1 12) or recovered from the combusted gas. In certain embodiments, the process (10) produces a CO 2 exhaust stream (134) for sequestration or capturing for further use.

The process includes quenching the crude syngas stream with a liquid stream to cool the syngas stream and remove particulates, tars and heavier hydrocarbon compounds. The process further includes co-scrubbing the syngas stream to remove both HCl and NH3 from the syngas stream, removing particulate matter from the syngas stream, and removing sulfur from the syngas stream.
