摘要： Methods are provided for rapidly characterizing a feedstock being considered for lubricant base oil production in order to determine the viscosity index (VI) potential of the feedstock. It has unexpectedly been discovered that the distillate dewaxed viscosity index (DDVI) value for a feedstock at a specified pour point can be predicted based on a) the feed distillate residual wax content at a temperature as determined by Differential Scanning Calorimetry, such as the feed distillate residual wax content at a temperature corresponding to the specified pour point temperature; b) the feed distillate refractive index; c) the feed distillate kinematic viscosity at a temperature, such as kinematic viscosity at 100°C; and d) the distillate volume-averaged boiling point. Based on this unexpected correlation, the VI potential of a feedstock can be determined based on measurement of properties that can be performed on a time scale corresponding to one or a few days using a few milliliters of feedstock.

摘要： The invention relates to a high penetration - minimum value 30 0.1 mm at 25 DEG C - and low viscosity - maximum value 10 m /s - paraffin wax. The invention also relates to a process for producing said paraffin wax by redistilling a mixture of slack waxes and de-oiling the resulting individual fractions I, II, III and IV (the residue) to obtain foot oil I, foot oil II, foot oil III and foot oil IV. According to the invention at least two of the resulting foot oils are mixed with one another and optionally with up to 65 w/w % of a foot oil resulting from non-redistilled slack waxes to obtain a final mixture containing at least 15 w/w % of foot oil IV (petrolatum oil), and this mixture is de-oiled in a manner known per se in an apparatus used for de-oiling of slack waxes with a solvent mixture comprising ketones and aromatics with a ketone content of not less than 29 % by volume, wherein dissolution and mixing are performed at temperatures not higher than 125 DEG C and crystallization is performed at a final cooling temperature not less than -17 DEG C.

Es entsteht ein Montanwachsmodifikat auf Basis eines von mit Tallharz oder einem Ester auf Tallharzbasis abgemischtem Montanwachs, wobei in ihre Salze überführte Säuregruppierungen im Molekülgerüst eingefügt vorhanden sind. Schließlich wird die Verwendung des Montanwachsmodifikats für die Herstellung eines wässrigen Montanwachscompounds mit hydrophobierenden Eigenschaften beansprucht.
