    • An olefin polymerization catalyst which comprises (A) a transition metal complex having a chelate-type phosphorus compound as a ligand and (B) at least one Lewis acid compound selected among organoaluminum compounds and organoboron compounds; another olefin polymerization catalyst which comprises the ingredient (A) and (C) a clay mineral and/or a lamellar ion-exchanging compound, and still another olefin polymerization catalyst which comprises an ionic transition metal complex having a chelate-type phosphorus compound as a ligand. All these catalysts have high activity and enable an olefin homo- or copolymer, especially an olefin copolymer having polar groups, to be efficiently produced.
