    • Portable, container-mounted metering devices for monitoring the dispensing of a predetermined volume of liquid each time the container is moved into a dispensing position. Prior art devices have failed to provide a simple yet complete system for monitoring the number of uses of the container and the volume of liquid dispensed with each use. The present apparatus overcomes these deficiencies by providing an inexpensive, self-contained container-mounted metering device including data storage - capabilities and a motor- operated flow controller arrangement. The apparatus includes a container neck-mounted housing (10) which encloses a flexible outlet conduit (13); a pinch - type flow controller (12); a reverse polarity motor (11) for actuating the flow controller (12); a D.C. power source (20); a pour position sensing, magnetic switch (24); a magnet - operated display device (18); a dispensed quantity variance controller (22); and a logic circuit (100) for controlling the flow controller (12) and display device (18).

    • A hand-held flow metering device 10 for dispensing a pressurized fluid comprises a valve 26, a flow meter 28, a trigger lever 20, a trigger release mechanism 30 and meter electronics 84. The valve 26 is connected to the pressurized fluid to regulate flow of the pressurized fluid through the device 10. The flow meter 28 is disposed within the flow of pressurized fluid to measure volumetric flow of the pressurized fluid. The trigger lever 20 is configured to be manually displaced to mechanically open the valve 26. The trigger release mechanism 30 is connected to the trigger lever 26 and is selectively actuated to mechanically prevent the trigger lever 20 from opening the valve 26 when the trigger lever 20 is displaced. The meter electronics 84 is connected to the flow meter 28 and the trigger release mechanism 30 to actuate the trigger release mechanism 30 based on output of the flow meter 28.
