    • A belt conveyor system (10) having a continuous, looping carrier belt (28) entrained around a belt plate (20) which is supported by a frame (12). The belt plate (20) is secured to the frame (12) by securement pins (26a) and pivot pins (26b). The carrier belt (28) is driven externally rather than internally and is tensioned with minimal obstruction to removing the belt (28), which thereby facilitates disassembly of the system (10), particularly frequent removal, cleaning, and replacement of the belt (28) as may be necessary or desirable in, for example, the food processing industry. More specifically, the drive mechanism (14) is located substantially completely outside of and adjacent to the internal area (41) defined by the looping belt (28), and the tensioning mechanism (22) is low profile presenting minimal to no obstruction when removing the belt (28) from the belt plate (20).

    • A conveyor (10) of the type with articulated links (12) comprises means (11) for supporting and guiding an endless conveyor belt (13) which has an upper, product feed stretch and a lower, return stretch. Each link comprises a portion (14) for supporting the product and which, at the front and rear transversal edges of it (23a, 23b), has longitudinal protrusions on it, being transversely outer protrusions (26, 28; 34, 36) and transversely inner protrusions (24; 30, 32) relative to each other. The longitudinal protrusions are designed to be inserted into matching recesses in the adjacent links and laterally delimit matching recesses on them, being transversely outer recesses (27, 29; 35, 37) and transversely inner recesses (25; 31, 33), respectively, for receiving matching protrusions on the adjacent links.     • Deflecting device for a conveyor, comprising at least one profiled element (10) and deflecting devices (25) and in which a continuous conveyor chain is driven in the profiled element and the said deflecting devices. The profiled element comprises a first guide (11, 11') for the motion of the chain in the direction of a deflecting device and a second guide (12, 12') for the motion of the chain away from the deflecting device. The said at least one deflecting device has a third guide (26, 29, 40) on a pair of mutually opposing wall elements (25) actively connectable to the first and second guides and comprises a part (30", 30") which reverses the motional direction of the chain. Each wall element has a fixture device (30), configured in one piece therewith, for snapping-in of the guide/slide element on both sides of the conveyor.

    • A chamber-type vacuum packaging machine (20) equipped with a conveyor assembly (28) is provided which has increased productivity and ease of use in as much as the assembly (28) permits rapid assembly-line transfer of packages between the loading station (52) and the sealing station (60) of the machine (20). The assembly (28) includes a continuous belt (90) presenting an upper run (94) and a lower run (96) together with end-mounted roller assemblies (98, 100) which support the belt (90) and permit selective shifting of the upper run (94) between the stations (52, 60) in order to transfer loaded packages to be sealed to the sealing station (60). In order to facilitate mounting of the assembly (28) and periodic breakdown thereof for cleaning and/or replacement of belt (90), the assembly (28) is configured so that the upper and lower runs (94, 96) are both located atop the table (24) of the machine (20). Optional upper and lower plate assemblies (168, 170) having low-friction undulating surfaces are preferably located atop table (24) and between the runs (94, 96) of the belt (90). The assembly (28) may also be used on a variety of elongated table processing or handling machines (178). A double-chamber vacuum packaging machine (182) is also provided having a continuous conveyor assembly (184) on the assembly (28).
