摘要： A composite barrier film has a base layer of polyester or polyolefin with a barrier layer of modified polyvinyl amine (mPVA). The mPVA is polyvinyl alcohol/polyvinyl amine copolymer crosslinked with citric acid and an optional additional crosslinking agent such as epichlorohydrin. The barrier layer can be applied by depositing a reactive aqueous solution onto the base layer, heating and drying to remove water and crosslink the reactants. Excellent barrier properties of the film are obtained by applying and crosslinking the barrier layer during the transverse stretching steps for continuously fabricating a biaxial oriented polymer film. Superior barrier properties are achieved with transverse stretching by a factor in the range of about 3-10 and depending upon whether the base layer is polyester or polyolefin.

摘要： A device inhibits oxidation of wine remaining in a bottle. A stopper and an inflatable bladder replace the cork. In a first embodiment, a wine duct formed in the stopper is open when the stopper is in an extended position and is closed when the stopper is retracted. Air displaces but does not contact the wine by filling the bladder through an air duct formed in the stopper. After decanting, air that seeps into the wine chamber is removed by forcing air into the bladder, using an externat hand pump inserted into the air duct. When sufficient air is pumped into the bladder to raise the wine level to contact the stopper, the stopper is placed into its retracted position. In an additional embodiment, a valve controls opening and closing of the wine duct and the stopper has no extended and retracted position.

摘要： The present invention provides for a device (22) for sealing paint in a can (10). The device or fluid cover includes a circular disk (24) having an outer edge with the diameter of the edge being smaller than the inner diameter of the can. The cover includes a side wall (30) that extends outwardly and upwardly and a lip (36) that extends radially outwardly from the side wall. The diameter of the lip is greater than the inner diameter of the can. Upon insertion of the cover into the can the side wall flexes to allow the cover to be inserted into the can, whilst the lip frictionally engages the can inner surface. The fluid cover further includes a handle (26) defining an upward cavity that can be compressed to expel air from the cavity and assists in sealing the fluid cover on top of paint by providing a partial vacuum. The side wall may be of an arcuate shape and have several sections extending radially outwardly at different angles to the disk.
