    • The invention relates to an information transmission system for rail transport. In order to be able to design such an information transmission system to be economical, a transmitter (12a) having a known transmission power is provided for the communication between a track section (4) and a rail vehicle (10). Furthermore, a receiver (7a) having at least one first adjustable reception level threshold (Pm) is present, by means of which adjustable reception level threshold a maximum distance (dmax) between the transmitter (12a) and the receiver (7a) can be defined in the particular application, within which maximum distance the receiver (7a) is able to receive with respect to the transmitter (12a). The invention further relates to an information transmission method.
