    • The present invention concerns a process for manufacturing a tyre. Said process comprises the steps of: a) providing an elastomeric layer on an outer surface of a toroidal support; b) manufacturing said green tyre on said toroidal support; c) introducing said green tyre supported on said toroidal support into a moulding cavity; d) introducing a fluid under pressure into the space defined between the inner surface of the green tyre and the toroidal support; e) curing the green tyre. Said process further comprises the step of the step of causing an electrical current to flow in at least a heating element provided to the outer surface of said toroidal support so as to obtain an at least partial precuring of said elastomeric layer. The present invention further relates to a toroidal support (10) which is provided with at least a heating element (20) covering at least a portion of the outer surface of said toroidal support, said heating element comprising, in a radial direction from the inside towards the outside of said heating element, athermally insulating layer (22) and an electrically resistive circuit (23). Preferably, the heating element (20) further comprises a protective layer (24) radially external to the electrically resistive circuit (23).

    • Systems and methods for the reduction of volatile component content from shaped prepregs and prepreg layups and the layups and composites formed therefrom are disclosed. One or more shaped prepregs or prepreg layups are placed within an enclosure and a flow of a non-condensing gas is introduced adjacent at least one surface of the shaped prepregs or prepreg layups, accelerating the rate and/or the completeness of removal of volatile components from the shaped prepregs or prepreg layups. The shaped prepregs or prepreg layups may be further subjected to heat, vacuum, and external pressure to facilitate removal of the volatile components. Shaped prepregs and prepreg layups with volatiles reduced in this manner may be further consolidated with heat, external pressure and/or vacuum. Beneficially, reduced matrix bleed and reduced fiber movement may be achieved during processing, reducing manufacturing time and improving part quality.

    • In a process of manufacturing pneumatic tyres, a carcass sleeve (14) is made which comprises at least one carcass ply (3) provided with axially opposite flaps (3a) turned up around annular anchoring structures (5), so as to form respective loops (16). An outer sleeve (35) is positioned around the carcass sleeve (14) and the latter is radially expanded in order to cause application of same against a radially internal surface of the outer sleeve (35). After each of the end flaps (3a) has been turned up and before radial expansion, only a portion (25) belonging to each of the loops (16) and extending substantially parallel to the respective annular anchoring structure (5) is submitted to a step of carrying out heating under pressure, to make each loop (16) integral with the annular anchoring structure (5) and prevent the turned- up ply/plies from even partly slipping off, during the subsequent radial-expansion step of the carcass sleeve (14) and vulcanisation step of the tyre (2).
