摘要： A prosthetic joint has a central axis and includes: (a) a first member of rigid material and including a body having a cantilevered perimeter flange extending therefrom, the flange defining a wear-resistant, concave first contact surface having a protruding rim and a recessed central portion; and (b) a second member of rigid material with a wear-resistant, convex second contact surface. The first and second contact surfaces bear directly against each other so as to transfer axial and lateral loads from one of the members to the other, while allowing pivoting motion between the two members. The flange is shaped and sized so as to deform elastically and permit the first contact surface to conform in an irregular shape to the second contact surface when the joint is placed under a predetermined load.

摘要： An intervertebral implant comprises a number of components including upper and lower endplates and one or more inserts configured to be disposed between the upper and lower endplates. Complimentary curved articulation surfaces are defined on the insert-facing surfaces of the upper and lower endplates and on the corresponding upper and lower surfaces of each of the inserts. The components of the implant articulate with respect to each other along shared articulation surfaces. At least two pairs of shared articulation surfaces are defined, each pair having a different length radius. The components of the implant can be configured with retainers, such that the implant is retained in an assembled configuration when disposed within an intervertebral space.

摘要： A prosthetic knee joint includes: (a) a femoral member comprising rigid material with a convex, wear-resistant femoral contact surface including a convex ridge; (b) a tibial assembly including: (i) a cup comprising rigid material with a body and a rim substantially thicker than the body defining a wear-resistant cup contact surface; (ii) a rigid base; and (iii) a spring support interconnecting the cup and the base, the spring support elastically deflectable permitting controlled pivoting of the at least one cup; (c) wherein the cup contact surface bears against the femoral contact surface, transferring axial and lateral loads between the cup and femoral member, while allowing pivoting between the cup and femoral member; and (d) wherein the at least one cup allows the rim to deform elastically, permitting the cup contact surface to conform in an irregular shape to the femoral contact surface, when the knee joint is loaded.

摘要： A prosthetic joint includes: a first member comprising rigid material including a wear-resistant, concave cup surface and a second member comprising rigid material with a wear-resistant, convex contact surface. One of the surfaces includes: (a) an annular first flange defining a protruding wear-resistant first contact rim at or near an apex of the member; and (b) an annular second flange defining a protruding wear-resistant second contact rim, at or near an outer periphery of the member. The first and second contact rims bear directly against the contact surface, so as to transfer loads between the first and second members, while allowing pivoting motion therebetween. The flanges are shaped and sized so as to deform elastically and permit the contact rims to conform in an irregular shape to the surface of the opposite member, when the joint is placed under a predetermined load.

摘要： A spinal fusion device is disclosed. The spinal fusion device includes a first endplate configured for fitting within a disc space and engaging with a first vertebra and a second endplate configured for fitting within the disc space and engaging with a second vertebra. The two endplates are separated by a single spacer that is positioned between the first endplate and the second endplate and maintains a pre-determined distance between the first endplate and the second endplate. The spacer contains an anterior end, a posterior end, a first lateral side, a second lateral side opposite to the first lateral side, a first surface that engages with the first endplate, a second surface that engages with the second endplate. Also disclosed are methods and instruments for implanting the spinal fusion device.

摘要： Internal braces (10) and methods of implanting same. A brace can be implanted on one side of a joint, or a pair of braces can be implanted, one on each opposite side of a joint. Each brace supports the joint over at least a portion of its range of motion. Distraction may be provided, or load sharing can be accomplished without distraction. Relative axial rotation of the bones connected by the brace may be permitted. One or more compliant members may be provided in the brace.

摘要： The invention discloses devices, methods and systems for an implantable revision device useful for altering the biomechanics of an implanted spinal arthroplasty device. The revision device has a first surface adapted to communicate with a natural anatomical surface; and a second surface adapted to engage a portion of the arthroplasty device. The device alters the biomechanics of the implanted spinal arthroplasty device permanently semipermanently and/or temporarily.
