    • A handheld device provides personal assistance for hygiene of the foot, toes, and toenails for persons unable to bend sufficiently at the waist to reach their feet. The handheld device includes a handle slat and a toe slat. The slats can rotate relative to each other using a hinge pin to extend to a length sufficient for a person to accomplish personal hygiene to the foot, toes, and toenails. The handle slat includes a handle to grasp the device. The toe slat includes an operating end having a thinner flat end to fit between toes and one or more corner balls to reach the interstitial space between and under the web connection of adjacent toes. A gauze applicator sock or tube covers the operating end to be used to perform actions for personal hygiene to the foot, toes, or toenails.

    • The invention is composed of a set consisting of a handheld nail trephine that utilizes a sharp pointed conical burr that enables the operator to penetrate and make small circumscribed holes on a human finger or toenail to decompress the buildup of fluids resulting from previous blunt trauma as well as a hand restraint assembly to secure the hand to be operated on for the duration of the surgical procedure. The attachment to the trephine which enables it to create small circumscribed holes on the surface of the human nail is an acutely sharp pointed conical burr that allows for the quick removal of nail tissue and yet controlled penetration of the nail itself. The hand restraint assembly is a rigid flat hard board on which a silhouette of the human hand is imprinted as well as pegs have been mounted through perpendicular to its flat surface so as to guide the placement of and aid in the immobilization of the hand of the patient. The strategic placement of straps on the hand restraint board across the outstretched fingers and wrist effectively secures the patient's hand onto the board's flat surface and thereby minimizes the risk of inadvertent movement thereof. A mirror image of the silhouette as well as the placement of the pegs and straps is provided for on the reverse side of the hand restraint board in such a way as to allow the opposite hand of the patient to be so restrained as needed. The entire device set is designed to allow for simple and portable operation and inexpensive manufacture. A method of use is also described herein.

    • The present invention relates to medical and veterinarian rotary tools. In particular, the present invention relates to a rotary tool for the taking of biopsies and drilling into tissues such as nail and bone. More particularly, the present invention relates to nail care devices and procedures to improve the condition of nails, especially relating to the treatment of fungal infections. Onychomycosis is a fungal infection that causes the toenails and/or fingernails to thicken, discolour, and split. The prevalence of onychomycosis in the United States population as a whole is 13%, onychomycosis being more prevalent in the elderly (60%). Onychomycosis can result in permanent nail deformity. The disease can have a significant impact on a patient's quality of life arising from psychosocial issues e.g., due to concern regarding the appearance of one's toenails and fingernails, limiting a choice of sandals or shoes, on the one hand and pain associated with wearing shoes, walking and sports activities on the other hand. The present invention seeks to provide an improved mechanical system for use in the treatment of onychomycosis and other nail bed conditions, and other animal keratin, bone and cartilaginous conditions.
