摘要： The invention relates to an artificial turf, comprising a backing and a number of artificial grass blades connected to the backing and extending transversely of the surface thereof, which artificial grass blades have an irregular, in particular a locally narrowed, cross-section. Owing to this locally narrowed cross-section in the vicinity of the free end thereof, these artificial grass blades greatly resemble natural blades of grass and also display similar behaviour. The invention also relates to a method for forming such an artificial turf and to a device with which this method can be performed. The narrowed cross-section can herein be formed by stretching the artificial grass blades, wherein the artificial grass blades can be plasticized before, during and/or after the stretching, for instance by local heating thereof.

摘要： The present invention relates to an artificial turf (1) and a method for producing an artificial turf (1) comprising a ground fabric made from synthetic ground warp yarns and synthetic weft yarns and a number of plastic blades of grass (2) protruding from the ground fabric in the shape of pile burls which succeed one another in the warp direction and which each comprise two pile legs (2a), in which at least three and at most nine weft yarns (3) are inserted between two successive pile legs (2a). In particular, each pile leg (2a) is tied up around a different weft yarn (3) which are both situated between the two pile legs. As the distance between the two pile legs of a pile burl is only half that of the distance between the pile legs during tufting, the material consumption in terms of plastic grass blade yarn will be greatly reduced. In addition, artificial turf (1) of this type has the advantage that the pile burls and in particular the plastic blades of grass are evenly distributed across the fabric.

摘要： A synthetic turf is made by providing a tufted material having a plurality of bundles of fibers extending outwardly from a front side thereof; providing a hot melt adhesive having a ring and ball softening point and heating the adhesive to a temperature corresponding to at least its ring and ball softening point; and applying the thus heated hot melt adhesive to a back side of the tufted material, wherein the adhesive cools to a temperature substantially below its ring and ball softening point after it has been applied to the back side of the tufted material. The thus treated material is preferably passed directly against and around a heated drum maintained at a temperature substantially corresponding to the ring and ball softening point of the hot melt adhesive to render the adhesive in a sufficiently plastic state such that the adhesive substantially penetrates into interstices of the bundles of fibers to substantially bind together each of the fibers of each of the bundles.
