    • This creel is made by centering and binding the lower end of a cylindrical yarn net (1) to form a bottom surface thereof; providing two pairs of rust-proof steel wires (3), (3a), (4), (4a), each pair of which extend horizontally and in parallel with each other in the vertical direction in the cylindrical bottomed yarn net with the two pairs of steel wires extending through the meshes of the net in an opposed state, providing at both sides of the two pairs of steel wires X-shaped folding means (11), (11a) in an opposed state, each of which consists of pivotably-connected crossing bars (9), (9) of a synthetic resin having in the core portions thereof coiled springs both ends of each of which are engaged with the bars of a synthetic resin; and inserting the end portions of the bars and the adjacent end portions of the steel wires into short pipes of closely-wound coiled springs (12) to be joined to each other. While this creel is in use, it forms a cuboid automatically owing to the resilient force of the coiled springs. When the creel, in which living fishes are held, is stored in the water, the fishes can move freely therein, so that the fishes are not hurt. When the creel is transported, it is folded by pressing the same vertically, and then diagonally. The resultant creel is folded in two, and the projecting part of the net is wound around the folded creel body. The creel is thus collapsed to very small dimensions to enable it to be carried and stored easily.

    • Keepnets allowing safer and easier release of fish retained therein with reduced danger of damage to the fish comprise a tubular net (1) open at one end (2) and closed at the other (3), the net having a rigid mouth-ring (5), a terminal ring at the closed end and a plurality of intermediate support rings (4) spaced along its length between the mouth-ring and the terminal ring. One of the intermediate rings (10) is of substantially rigid construction as opposed to the relative flexibility of the remaining intermediate rings (4). The rigid ring (10) is used as a secondary mouth when releasing the fish to reduce the length of net over which they have to be tumbled and thus the risk of damage to them. Various designs of net using this principle are described.
