摘要： A supercritical fluid chromatography system comprises a first pump for pumping a first flow stream comprising a compressible fluid and a second pump for pumping a second flow stream comprising a modifier fluid. The second pump is in parallel with the first pump. A column is located in a combined flow stream. The column is located downstream of the first and second pumps. The combined flow stream comprises the first flow stream, the second flow stream, and a sample. A detector is located downstream of the column. A gas-liquid separator is located downstream of the detector. The gas-liquid separator is configured to vent a majority of the compressible fluid while maintaining a majority of the sample, thus preventing aerosolization of the flow stream and minimizing sample loss as well as cross contamination. An open bed collector is located after the gas-liquid separator.

摘要： A mixing device for use in a chromatography system, the device includes an exterior housing having a first end and a second end and a hydraulic flow connector at the first end of the exterior housing. A cartridge including a chamber is enclosed within the exterior housing. The chamber has at least one wall defining an interior volume having a shape, wherein the shape of the interior volume creates a turbulent flow condition to mix at least two fluids and provide flow through the cartridge during operation of the chromatography system. The chamber also retains the sample, thereby ensuring that the sample is focused in the chamber such that a more narrow bolus of sample enters the chromatography column.

摘要： A collection system for collecting samples from a flowstream (5) exiting a supercritical fluid chromatography system is provided. The collection system comprises: (i) a first back pressure regulator (10) on the flowstream as it exits the chromatography system, (ii) a gas-liquid separator (30) having a tapered and angled dripper (65), which introduces the flow into the separator at an angle tangential to the separator wall; and (iii) one or more fraction collectors (15), wherein the fraction collector is at a reduced pressure collection point, between 100 bar and atmospheric pressure. A collection system for HPLC is also provided, as well as a process for collection of samples from a flowstream.

摘要： The invention provides an apparatus for supercritical fluid chromatography. The apparatus comprises a binary pump; an autosampler; a sampling valve; a first and second port switching valve; a first and second manifold; two or more channels, each having a check valve assembly, a separation column and one or more detectors operatively connected thereon; and a backpressure regulator. The apparatus also includes computer software and hardware to control distribution of fluid through the apparatus, including switching between a multi-channel mode or a single channel ode; 2) analyze data collected by the one or more detectors; and 3) optimize separation of analytes by controlling solvent combinations, concentration gradients, pressure and temperature. The apparatus excludes additional backpressure regulators or pumps on individual channels. Also provided is a method of screening a sample, using supercritical chromatography, using the above apparatus, where multiple samples can be screened simultaneously with parallel processing.

摘要： An anode includes a mixed ionic-electronic conductor (MIEC) with an open pore structure. The open pore structure includes open pores to facilitate motion of an alkali metal into and/or out of the MIEC. The open pore structure thus provides open space to relieve the stresses generated by the alkali metal when charging/discharging a battery. The MIEC is formed from a material that is thermodynamically and electrochemically stable against the alkali metal to prevent the formation of solid-electrolyte interphase (SEI) debris and the formation of dead alkali metal. The MIEC may also be passive (the MIEC does not store or release alkali metal). In one example, the open pore structure may be an array of substantially aligned tubules with a width less than about 300 nm, a wall thickness between about 1 nm to about 30 nm, and a height of at least 10 pm arranged as a honeycomb.
