摘要： A coater for (450) a moving paper web (452), preferably of the jet type, is disclosed and provided with a sonic oscillator (520) forming a portion of the discharge orifice or exit tip (475), which is preferably adjacent the discharge of the coater (450) and which is opposite the side of the discharge likely to be applied the moving web (452). The sonic oscillator (520) keeps the orifice or tip (475) clean while minimizing any effect of the oscillator (520) on the coating actually applied to the web (452). The invention covers both a method and apparatus. A method, apparatus, system, and computer program product for clearing flow disruptions in the coating applicator and a web inspection system are also disclosed. The latter is downstream of the applicator (450) to detect coating defects and communicate a cross-machine location of the defect to activate vibrations at that location to clear the flow disruption.
