    • The present invention relates to a motion vector encoding/decoding method and device and an image encoding/decoding method and device using the same. The invention provides the motion vector encoding method comprising the steps of: selecting a predictive motion vector candidate set which includes one or more predictive motion vector candidates for a block; determining a search range for the predictive motion vector candidate set; selecting one predictive motion vector candidate of the one or more predictive motion vector candidates as a predictive motion vector candidate in accordance with each search point, according to the image decoding device and a first determination standard which is previously appointed for each search point within the search range; determining a predictive motion vector, a differential motion vector, and a current motion vector by selecting one predictive motion vector candidate of the predictive motion vector candidates in accordance with each search point, according to the image decoding device and a second determination standard which is not previously appointed; and generating and encoding the differential motion vector as motion information. According to the present invention, motion vectors are encoded by using more accurate predictive motion vectors, and there is no need to add information for identifying the predictive motion vectors to the encoded data, thereby improving the motion vector encoding efficiency.

    • The present invention relates to a video encoding/decoding apparatus and method. The video encoding/decoding apparatus according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises: a video encoder that generates predicted sub-blocks by predicting sub-blocks into which a macro block is divided, generates residual sub-blocks by subtracting the sub-blocks and the predicted sub-blocks, generates quantized transform coefficients by transforming and quantizing the residual sub-blocks using a transformation scheme which is selected by the size of the sub-block, and generates video data encoded by using different context tables depending on the used macro block and the divided sub-blocks in the case of encoding the quantized transform coefficients with Context-Adaptive Binary Arithmetic Coding (CABAC); and a video decoder that restores information about the division type, motion and transformation type as well as the quantized transform coefficients by decoding the data which has been encoded using different context tables depending on the macro block and the divided sub-blocks and using CABAC, restores the residual sub-blocks by performing the inverse-quantization and inverse-transformation on the quantized transform coefficients following a transformation scheme which is identified by the transformation type information having been restored, generates predicted sub-blocks, on the basis of the motion information having been restored, by predicting sub-blocks which are identified by the division type information having been restored, restores sub-blocks by subtracting the predicted sub-blocks and residual sub-blocks, and restores the macro block on the basis of the restored sub-blocks.
