    • In a height regulation system for a vehicle having an air spring suspension, the actual value (h) of the height of the vehicle body (10) is filtered with a short time constant (t1) to produce a first signal (NIV1) which is compared with a desired height (ho). The actual value (h) is also filtered with a longer time constant (t2) to produce a second (delayed) signal (NIV2) which can be compared with the desired value (ho). The selection of the first signal (NIV1) or the second signal (NIV2) is effected by an electronic switch (46) under the control of a velocity comparator (50). When the vehicle is at rest or moving at a relatively slow speed (below vo) at which large oscillations are not expected, the filter (40) with the shorter time constant (t1) is connected to the comparator (48) for comparison with the desired height (ho) whereas, at higher velocities (v>vo) the second filter (42) with the longer time constant (t2) is brought into use.

    • In a process for igniting a gas-discharge lamp, the resonance frequency of an ignition oscillating circuit (11, 12, 13) associated with the gas-discharge lamp (10) is measured in a signal-processing arrangement (17) when a lamp switch-on signal E and an excitation signal T are received. For the subsequent ignition of the gas-discharge lamp (10), the signal-processing arrangement (17) controls an alternating current generator (16) in the switching device (14), which operates the gas-discharge lamp (10) at the previously determined resonance frequency of the ignition oscillating circuit (11, 12, 13). The signal-processing arrangement (17) also measures the decay of the oscillations of the ignition oscillating circuit (11, 12, 13) which are excited by the excitation signal T. This measure enables defective components to be detected and at the same time enhances the reliability, because contact between current-carrying lines in the lamp circuit can be detected, whereupon the switch device (14) is switched off.
