    • What is disclosed is an apparatus and method to dynamically schedule user devices in a wireless communication system in single-user multiple-input multiple-output (SU-MIMO) or multiple-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) modes of operation. The dynamic scheduling employs an efficient differential reporting of channel state information that reduces uplink feedback overhead, whereby a base layer value of a channel quality indicator (CQI) is reported in conjunction with a CQI offset value. Antenna subset selection is also reported. The offset value reflects gains by detection with successive interference cancellation if multiple antennas are reported (rank > 1), while it reflects the actual offset between single-layer SU-MIMO CQI and MU-MIMO CQI if a single antenna is reported (rank = 1). Scheduled SU-MIMO mode of operation is optimized for a user reporting either a single antenna or multiple antennas, whereas MU-MIMO operation is optimized for a user reporting a single antenna, in terms of accuracy of data rate and constellation size restorable at a transmitter based on the reported channel quality indicator.

    • In an unlicensed band, different types of interference may be experienced by user equipments (UEs), and a serving evolved Node B (eNB) may not be aware of the interference types affecting a UE. Therefore, aspects presented herein provide UE assisted interference learning, in which the UE detects an interfering signal and reports information such as the interference level and properties of the interfering signal to a serving eNB. Another aspects presented herein provide for an eNB which receives, from one or more UEs, information indicating properties of each of at least one interfering signals experienced by the UEs, such as interference types affecting the UEs. The eNB further uses the information received from the UE, including the wireless technology type to determine the properties of its downlink transmission and the length of the contention window leading up to its downlink transmission.

However, if the largest of the calculated differences is less than or equal to the predetermined threshold (606), then it is concluded that the user terminal is within a beam crossover region (608).

    • Techniques for delivering data recovered by an HARQ entity in proper order to higher layers in a CDMA system. In a method, packets are received from the HARQ entity by the re-ordering entity and missing packets among the received packets are detected. Packets may be transmitted in a sequential order based on transmission sequence numbers (TSNs) assigned to the packets, and missing packets may be detected based on the TSNs of the received packets. Delivery of received packets later than the missing packets are stalled because higher layers expect data in-order. A determination is thereafter made whether each missing packet is (1) subsequently received from the HARQ entity or (2) lost, by successively eliminating HARQ channels that may be used to send the missing packet. Received packets previously stalled by each missing packet are delivered after the missing packet is determined to be lost or received.
