摘要： A catamenial device comprising a liquid pervious topsheet, the topsheet having an inner surface oriented toward the interior of the absorbent article and an outer surface oriented toward the body of the wearer when the absorbent article is being worn. At least a portion of the topsheet outer surface comprises an effective amount of a lotion coating which is semi-solid or solid at about 25°C and which is partially transferable to the wearer's body. The lotion coating comprises from about 60 to about 99.9% of a carrier comprising a petroleum based hydrocarbon and lower molecular weight glycols or polyols and from about 0.2 to about 65% of a fatty alcohol with a melting point from about 450C to about 110°C. A backsheet is joined to the topsheet and an absorbent core is disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet.

摘要： Methods of bonding materials used in the manufacture of articles, including, but not limited to, absorbent articles such as sanitary napkins, pantiliners, tampons, absorbent interlabial devices, diapers, incontinence devices, wipes, and the like are disclosed. There are numerous aspects of the disclosed methods. In one aspect, the method involves bonding through incompatible materials during the process of making a composite structure comprising several materials. In another aspect, improvements are made that allow the method to be used to bond through relatively thick materials (e.g., materials having a thickness of greater than or equal to about 4 mm). In another aspect, the methods are provided with the ability to create a virtually unlimited number of bonding patterns in the materials to be bonded. In still another aspect, the methods of bonding utilize a compression step to improve bond formation. In still another aspect, methods of bonding that utilize a step of slitting a material through which the bonds are made are disclosed.

The second portion can differ in structure from the first portion. The second portion can have a structurally modified zone. The structurally modified zone has a periphery, a length, and a long axis. The length is the maximum straight-line dimension between two points on the periphery. The long axis extends between two points on the periphery separated by the length. The long axis of the structurally modified zone can be asymmetric to the longitudinal centerline. The structurally modified zone can make up more than about 5% of the area of the topsheet. The topsheet can have a lotion zone, the long axis of which is asymmetric to the longitudinal centerline and the transverse centerline.

摘要： An absorbent article for positioning in the crotch area of a garment of a wearer and against or closely adjacent to the body of the wearer for absorbing body fluids. The absorbent article includes a pair of outwardly extending side flaps that are adapted to be folded around the edges of the crotch panel of the garment, and to overlap each other for attachment together to aid in properly positioning and retaining the absorbent article on the wearer's garment. Attachment of the flaps is effected by a fastening system that permits attachment, release, and subsequent reattachment of the flaps to enable the absorbent article to be repositioned by the wearer. The fastening system also enables the article to be folded for convenient carrying and packaging before use, and to be refolded for convenient disposal of the article after use. Optionally, a line of weakness can be provided across at least one of the flaps to facilitate severance of the encircling flap assembly for ease of removal of the article from a panty after use, and extensibility zones can be formed in the flaps to permit lateral extension of the flaps to accommodate a wider crotch panel of the garment and also to accommodate stresses imposed on the flaps during application of the article to the garment and while it is in use.
