    • Various communication systems may benefit from techniques for handling inter-band carrier aggregation. For example, systems of the third generation partnership project (3 GPP) long term evolution (LTE) advanced (LTE-A) may benefit from a uplink (UL) downlink assignment indicator (DAI) ambiguity handling or inter-band time division duplex (TDD) carrier aggregation (CA). A method can include scheduling physical uplink shared channel in at least one primary cell and at least one secondary cell in a same subframe and granting a different uplink grant to the at least one primary cell and the at least one secondary cell. The method can alternatively include scheduling physical uplink shared channel in at least one serving cell in a subframe with uplink grant and scheduling physical downlink channel in at least another serving cell in following subframe. The method can also include avoiding codebook size confusion by handling uplink downlink assignment indicator ambiguity.

    • Acknowledgements, negative acknowledgements and discontinuous transmission indications for a concatenation window that spans a plurality of subframes are concatenated into a compiled uplink message, which is then mapped the uplink message to a fixed subframe regardless of the uplink and downlink subframe configuration of the concatenation window. In one example each radio frame has ten subframes and the concatenation window spans subframe 9 of radio frame N-1 through subframe 8 of radio frame N, and the fixed subframe is subframe 2 of radio frame N+l. In other examples the plurality of subframes span a length less than one radio frame, or a length equal to N radio frames (N>1). In further examples the downlink assignment index is re-defined to indicate the PUCCH resource in the fixed subframe, and/or to indicate whether or not multiple PDSCHs are allocated in the concatenation window.

    • A method for configuring a Time Division Duplex (TDD) mode of a user equipment (UE) in a Long Term Evolution (LTE) network, comprising: receiving, while being connected with an enhanced NodeB (eNodeB) in said LTE network, a signaling message that includes TDD uplink-downlink configuration information dynamically assigned by said enhanced NodeB (eNodeB) to said UE; determining success or failure in receiving at said UE, said TDD uplink-downlink configuration information based on signaling information configured for said signaling message; generating an acknowledgement(ACK)/Non-acknowledgement(NACK) signal indicating said success or failure; and transmitting said ACK/NACK signal to said eNodeB on resources that are allocated based on said TDD uplink-downlink configuration information and/or said signaling configured for said signaling message.
