摘要： A flat panel display apparatus comprises plasma discharge cells, which formed between a first base plate and a second base plate. The first base plate has pairs of sustain electrodes (2b, 2c), and a second base plate has data electrodes (1b). Between said electrodes (2b, 2c, 1b) discharge volumes are formed. The device further has a drive circuit which comprises a circuit for providing data to the discharge cells. The display device comprises a conductive layer (51) on the first or second substrate for both of a pair of sustain electrodes (2b, 2c). Said conductive layer (51) extends outside the discharge volume (4) and forms an internal capacitance (Cpar) in the display device which capacitance is in parallel to the capacitance formed in operation by the pair of sustain electrodes (2b, 2c) and the discharge (4).

摘要： A flat panel display apparatus comprises plasma discharge cells, which formed between a first base plate (2a) and a second base plate (1a). The first base plate (2a) has pairs of sustain electrodes (2b, 2c), and a second base plate (1a) has data electrodes (1b). Between said electrodes (2b, 2c, 1b) discharge volumes are formed. The device further has a drive circuit which comprises a circuit for providing data to the discharge cells. The display device comprises a conductive layer (51, 72, 91, 101) on the first (2a) or second substrate (1a) for both of a pair of sustain electrodes (2b, 2c). Said conductive layer (51, 72, 91, 101) extends outside the discharge volume (4) and forms an internal capacitance (Cpar) in the display device which capacitance is in parallel to the capacitance formed in operation by the pair of sustain electrodes and the discharge.

摘要： The invention relates to an AC plasma display panel (12) of the surface discharge type, and more specifically to the structure of the address electrodes (5) of the panel and of the phosphor elements, and to a plasma display panel device comprising such a panel. According to the invention, only one address electrode (5) is used for one out of every two columns. Scan electrodes (8) and common electrodes (7) may comprise transparent parts (11). These parts (11) may extend over one out every two cells in a checkerboard fashion. In a preferred embodiment, the columns may have alternating wide (15) and narrow (16) cells (2). Furthermore, each cell has a neighbor-cell of the same color on the same address electrode but in a neighboring column and in a neighboring row. The display panel device comprises a driving circuit (22) arranged such that in at least one of the sub-fields the neighboring cells are addressed simultaneously.

摘要： A three electrode PDP comprises a scan driver (SD) which supplies a substantially sine wave shaped voltage (VS) between first and the second scan electrodes(SEi, CEi), an amplitude of the substantially sine wave shaped voltage (VS) being large enough to sustain plasma cells (PCij), but being too small to ignite the plasma cells (PCij). A data driver (DD) supplies a substantially pulse shaped voltage (VD) to the data electrodes (DEi) for controlling an amount of light produced by the plasma cells (PCij). The sine wave shaped voltage may have a predetermined frequency such that more than one stable light output level is obtained.

摘要： A matrix display device comprises cavities (20) having walls at least one of which is covered with a material (24) having a secondary emission coefficient of more than unity. The cavities form a planar arrangement substantially parallel to the display screen which has a phosphor display screen. The cavities are provided with electrodes (21, 215, 217, 5 22, 225, 228) and the display device has a circuit for supplying an oscillating AC voltage (Vr, VRF) to said electrodes (21, 215, 217, 22, 225, 228) for generating electrons within the cavities by secondary emission. The cavities (20) have apertures (25) facing the screen (41), and the display device has a circuit for selectively letting electrons generated within the cavities pass said apertures and accelerating electrons having passed said apertures to the phosphor display screen.

摘要： A display device comprising a first and a second set of electrod es (2, 5), and a plurality of light-emitting elements (3), arranged between said sets of electrodes. The display further comprises an electromechanically operable foil (6), located between said light-emitting elements (3) and said second set of electrodes, with a conducting layer facing the light-emitting elements (3). The foil (6) is arranged to place the conducting layer (7) in contact with selected ones of said light-emitting elements (3), thereby closing a circuit from said first set of electrodes (2), via said elements (3), to said conducting layer (7). Thus, the foil acts as a plurality of "switches", connecting selected light-emitting elements to the conducting layer. This function can be used for controlling the light-emitting elements with a higher degree of accuracy.
