    • A steering column switch for motor vehicles has a neutral position and two working positions associated each with an electric switching state. The object of the invention is to economically equip such a switch with commercially available series produced parts. In principle, the invention consists in using three micro-switches (11, 12, 13) of the same type. In an advantageous development, the micro-switches are indirectly actuated by switching levers by means of switching hoops (16). The micro-switch (12) associated with the neutral position of the swivelling switching lever (1) lies flat on the base plate. The switching hoop (27) is mounted in the base plate. A roller prevents friction losses when the micro-switch is actuated by a control profile of the control lever.

    • A quick break switch has a spring accumulator and a wedge profile. In conventional switches, the wedge profile is secured to the end of the contact lever that forms the moving switching piece. With switches of this type it frequently has to be ensured that they reliably assume the switch settings in which the intended switching processes occur, when the angular switching paths are small. The object of the invention is to propose suitable measures. According to the invention, this object is achieved by the use of a replaceable locking ring (17) which determines the possible angular settings of the rotary switch by means of its teeth (19) located at mutual spacings, in that at least one tooth of the carrier meshes between the locking teeth (19) in the various angular settings. The invention further concerns advantageous embodiments in which the switch can be secured against unintentional rotation by means of a locking slide (21) which has to be moved into its release setting before the switch can be moved on by a rotation step.

With gearshift switches of this kind it should be avoided that a vehicle can be inadvertently started when the gears are engaged. The invention therefore proposes a space-saving and economical solution in the form of a shiftlock for a gearshift switch designed as a steering column switch. The essential advantage is that conventional steering column switches can be fitted in a simple way with the claimed locking mechanism and then used as gearshift switch. The invention essentially consists in arranging a catch (31), which is coupled to the slide button (17), on the housing (7) of the slide switch, so that the catch (31) can lock the shift lever (2) of a steering column switch in its neutral position.
