摘要： Embodiments provide systems for delivering cosmetic agents (CA) into the skin. The system includes a power source and at least two electrode assemblies (EA) which may be attached or otherwise incorporated into a facemask assembly that fits over the users face. Each EA is configured to be held in contact with a facial or other skin layer. Additionally, each EA includes an electrode that is coupled to the power source to receive an output current from the power source. At least one of the EAs in the pair includes a medium that carries a CA, the medium being provided on the at least one electrode assembly to enable the output current to deliver the cosmetic agent into the epidermal dermal or other layer of the skin. Embodiments are particularly useful for delivering CAs into a selected layer of the skin to produce a desired cosmetic effect.

摘要： Embodiments of the invention provide swallowable devices, preparations and methods for delivering drugs and other therapeutic agents within the GI tract. Many embodiments provide a swallowable device for delivering the agents. Particular embodiments provide a swallowable device such as a capsule for delivering drugs into the intestinal wall or other GI lumen. Embodiments also provide various drug preparations that are configured to be contained within the capsule, advanced from the capsule into the intestinal wall and degrade within the wall to release the drug to produce a therapeutic effect. The preparation can be coupled to an actuator having a first configuration where the preparation is contained in the capsule and a second configuration where the preparation is advanced out of the capsule into the intestinal wall. Embodiments of the invention are particularly useful for the delivery of drugs which are poorly absorbed, tolerated and/or degraded within the GI tract.

摘要： A system for treating a patient suffering from symptoms of an overactive bladder includes a signal generator, a bladder fullness monitoring apparatus (BFMA), and a controller. When in operation, the signal generator delivers a simulation signal to a peripheral nerve of the patient to stimulate the peripheral nerve and alleviate the patient's overactive bladder symptoms. The BFMA generates a data signal corresponding to a degree of filling of the patient's bladder, and the controller receives the data signal from the BFMA and from the data signal determines a total number of voiding events during one or more monitoring periods. The controller adjusts parameters of the stimulation signal when the determined total number of voiding episodes during the one or more monitoring periods is greater than a target number.

摘要： An embodiment of an ingestible device for the delivery of a therapeutic agent includes a swallowable outer shell and a delivery mechanism within the outer shell. The delivery mechanism includes an expandable enclosure. The delivery mechanism is triggerable in situ within a gastrointestinal (GI) tract of a body to expand multiple regions of the expandable enclosure to an expanded state at a delivery location within the body. The multiple regions include a head region and a tail region with a protective recess defined between the head region and the tail region, and a retention region within the protective recess. A dimension of the retention region as expanded is less than a dimension of the head region as expanded and less than a dimension of the tail region as expanded. The ingestible device includes a shaped composition disposed at the retention region.

摘要： Embodiments of the invention provide devices and systems to monitor fullness of a patient's bladder. One embodiment of a bladder fullness (BF) measure system comprises a sensor device (SD) and a controller. The SD generates an output signal (OS) based on the force exerted by the bladder against SD the wherein the OS corresponds to a degree of BF. The SD may be attached to the bladder wall or adjoining tissue and positioned between the bladder and the pubic bone such that the SD is not affected by tissues force other than that from the bladder. The controller connects to the SD and causes an associated implant to perform a function when the SD output signal exceeds a predetermined threshold. Embodiments are particularly useful for providing information on BF to patients suffering from spinal injury or other conditions whereby they have lost the ability to sense BF and/or voluntarily urinate.

The containment ring provides a liquid-impermeable casing at the perimeter limit.
