摘要： A method for removing soot from engine oil comprising: disposing the oil between a pair of electrodes; applying a current to the pair of electrodes to generate an electric field, wherein the electric field causes a portion of the soot particles to agglomerate on a positive electrode and other portions of the soot particles not collected on the positive electrode are also agglomerated by the electric field; and applying a filtering process to remove the soot particles not collected on the positive electrode. Also disclosed is a filter for removing soot particles from an engine oil, the filter comprising: a housing having an inlet and outlet defining a flow path through a chamber; a pair of electrodes disposed in the flow path and are electrically coupled to a DC or AC current, which generates the electric field causing a portion of the soot particles to agglomerate on the positive electrode.

摘要： A method for removing soot, sludge and other insoluble particulates from an engine oil is provided, the method comprising: disposing an oil containing the particulates between a pair of electrodes, wherein one of the electrodes is a positive electrode; wrapping a surface of the positive electrode with a media, wherein the media is configured to collect a portion of the particulates drawn towards the positive electrode; applying a current to the electrodes for a period of time, wherein portions of the particulates agglomerate in the media. Also, disclosed herein is a filter for removing soot, sludge and other insoluble particulates from an engine oil.

摘要： An improved oil conditioning filter, for use with an internal combustion engine, includes a mechanically active filter element and a chemically active filter element having a reactive basic conditioner therein. The reactive basic conditioner is provided to counteract acidic combustion products in lubricating oil in an internal combustion engine. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the chemically active conditioning agent is provided in a plurality of pellets disposed within the oil filter housing. The pellets may be bonded together to form an integral porous filter element having spaced defined between the pellets thereof. The pellets are made of a mixture including a polymeric binder and the chemically active conditioning agent, in a defined weight ratio and in a narrow range of particle sizes. The chemically active filter element reacts with acids present in the oil to form a product which may be filtered out of the oil. The pellets are made either by a hot extrusion process or by a solvent process.

摘要： A filter medium for an air filtration system is described. The filter medium includes at least one fiber having a liquid or solid material disposed on an external surface thereof. The fiber can include structures such as an elongated fiber having multiple lobes with a longitudinally extending internal cavity including an opening from the internal cavity to the outer fiber formed between adjacent lobes. The material, which can be disposed within the internal cavity of the fiber, has a high affinity for particulate matter in order to strongly attract and retain the particulate matter, while at the same time not causing a substantial pressure drop across the filter medium.
