A method for making a cationic composite filter aid may include providing a silicate substrate, precipitating a silica onto the silicate substrate to form a composite filter aid, and cationically modifying the precipitated silica to form a cationic composite filter aid. A method for filtering a liquid may include providing a liquid for filtering and filtering the liquid through a cationically modified composite filter aid. The cationically modified composite filter aid may include a silicate substrate, a precipitated silica, and a cationic surface modification of the precipitated silica.

摘要： Embodiments of the invention include a filtration system with a separation system including a primary process vessel with a main body enclosing an internal volume, and a removable end cap coupled to one of the ends of the main body. The primary process vessel includes fluid apertures enabling a fluid stream to enter or exit the inner volume. The separation system includes a filter support positioned in the inner volume, and a filter assembly coupled to the filter support. In some embodiments, the filtration system further includes a support frame, and the separation system is mounted on the support frame. In some embodiments, the separation system is fluidly coupled to another separation system. In some embodiments, the filter assembly includes a coalescing filter. In some further embodiments, the filter assembly includes a filter configured and arranged to filter hydrocarbons.

摘要： Closed loop filtration systems and methods of the present teachings can provide liquid reformable fuels enriched in light end hydrocarbons and/or having reduced content of sulfur and/or other impurities. Such enriched liquid reformable fuels can be used in fuel cell systems having a vaporizer and hydrocarbon fuel reformer such that the fuel cell system can experience less deleterious impact on its components, for example, coking. Filter elements for use in the systems and methods also are provided.

摘要： A method for separating hydrocarbons and naphthenic acid from an aqueous mixture containing the same by passing the mixture through a spiral wound element to produce a permeate stream and concentrate stream wherein the concentrate stream has a relatively higher concentration of hydrocarbons than the permeate stream, wherein the spiral wound element includes a composite poly amide membrane comprising a porous support and a thin film poly amide layer, wherein the membrane is characterized by having: i) a NaCl rejection and a benzene tetra carboxylic acid rejection of at least 98% when tested with an aqueous solution containing 2000 ppm NaCl and 100 ppm benzene tetra carboxylic acid at 25 °C, pH 8 and ImPa (150 psi); and ii) a dissociated carboxylate content of at least 0.3 moles/kg of polyamide at pH 9.5 as measured by Rutherford Backscattering (RBS).
