摘要： A sunlight - scattering thin-film coating (202) disposed on a substrate (200) for greenhouse applications is disclosed. The surface morphology of the coating promotes a better and more uniform light distribution. At least one thin-film layer disposed on a substrate may be textured so as to create surface features on the order of 0.1-5 microns, with the surface features being sized to cause (a) light (404) having a wavelength of greater than or equal to about 800 nm incident thereon to primarily scatter to angles less than 30 degrees relative to a major surface of the substrate and (b) light (406) having a wavelength of less than or equal to about 700 nm incident thereon to primarily scatter to angles greater than 20 degrees relative to the major surface of the substrate. This arrangement may advantageously direct beneficial light towards plant life while directing parasitic light away from the plant life.

摘要： A coated article is provided with a low-emissivity (low-E) layer stack for use in a window unit or the like. The layer stack, or coating, may permit the coated article to achieve one or more of a low solar factor (SF) value, a high selectivity (T vis /SF) value, substantially neutral color at normal and/or off-axis viewing angles, and/or low emissivity. When high selectivity values are achieved, there is provided a high ratio of visible transmission to SF, which is a desirable feature in certain example instances. In certain example embodiments, a sub-oxide layer may be used as a contact layer under an infrared (IR) reflecting layer in order to permit low SF values, high selectivity, and good coloration to be achieved.

摘要： There is provided a method of making a heat treated (HT) coated ar¬ ticle to be used in shower door applications, window applications, or any other suitable applications where transparent coated articles are desired. For example, certain embodiments of this invention relate to a method of making a coated article, the method comprising: provid¬ ing a glass substrate including first and second major surfaces, the first major surface being exposed to a tin bath during fabrication of the glass substrate and the second major surface being opposite the first major surface and being acid etched; ion beam treating the first major surface of the substrate so as to remove a surface portion of the substrate, the surface portion comprising one or more of tin, tin oxide and/or surface contaminants; disposing a zirconium-inclusive layer on the first major surface following said ion beam treating; and disposing a layer comprising diamond-like carbon (DLC), directly or in¬ directly, on the zirconium-inclusive layer; wherein the glass substrate with the zirconium-inclusive layer and the layer comprising DLC is heat treatable at a temperature sufficient for thermal tempering, heat strengthening, and/or heat bending so as to cause burn off of the lay¬ er comprising DLC but without also causing significant burn off of the zirconium-inclusive layer.

摘要： There is provided a method of making a heat treated (FIT) coated article to be used in shower door applications, window applications, or any other suitable applications where transparent coated articles are desired. For example, certain embodiments of this invention relate to a method of making a coated article including a step of heat treating a glass substrate coated with at least a layer of or including diamond-like carbon (DLC) and an overlying protective film thereon. In certain example embodiments, the protective film may be of or include both (a) an oxygen blocking or barrier layer, and (b) a release layer. Following and/or during heat treatment (e.g., thermal tempering, or the like) the protective film may be removed. Other embodiments of this invention relate to the pre-HT coated article, or the post- HT coated article.

摘要： Certain example embodiments relate to a coated article including at least one infrared (IR) reflecting layer of a material such as silver or the like in a low-E coating, and methods of making the same. In certain cases, at least one layer of the coating is of or includes nickel and/or titanium (e.g., Ni x Ti y O z ). The provision of a layer including nickel titanium and/or an oxide thereof may permit a layer to be used that has good adhesion to the IR reflecting layer, and reduced absorption of visible light (resulting in a coated article with a higher visible transmission). When a layer including nickel titanium oxide is provided directly over and/or under the IR reflecting layer (e.g., as a barrier layer), this may result in improved chemical and mechanical durability. Thus, visible transmission may be improved if desired, without compromising durability; or, durability may simply be increased.
