    • Aspects of the disclosure relate generally to active cooling or removing heat (620) generated by a processor (610) in a computing device (440, 740). More specifically, heat (620) generated by the processor (610) may be expelled from the computing device (440) using a fan (200, 700, 800). The fan (200) may include an air intake (204) over an impeller (220, 720, 820) or blades which move air through an impeller portion (314) and an air duct (316) and out of a housing (210, 710, 810) of the fan (200, 700, 800). The components of the fan (200, 700, 800) may be configured in the housing (210, 710, 810) to increase the area of an air intake (204) which is not obstructed by features (544) such as keyboards or displays in the computing device (440, 740).

The hinge portion can include a hollow cavity extending parallel to a longitudinal axis of the metal hinge and a longitudinal slot in a wall of the metal hinge and parallel to the longitudinal axis, where the longitudinal slot is positioned relative to the heat exhaust element so as to receive air moved by the heat exhaust element through the slot and into the hollow cavity.

    • Aspects of the disclosure relate generally to active cooling or removing heat generated by a processor in a computing device. More specifically, a cooling system in a computing device (400, 600) may include a heatpipe (420, 620A- B) which moves heat (412, 414, 416, 418, 612A-B, 614A-B, 616A- B, 618A-B) along a fin pack (200, 500, 700, 720, 740, 760, 780, 800, 820, 840, 860). The fin pack may include top and bottom ends (206, 214, 506, 514) as well as a plurality of fins (210, 510A-B, 702, 722, 742A-B, 762A-B, 782A-B, 810A-C). The fins may extend only a portion of the way between the ends thus creating an air duct (320, 520, 704, 724, 744, 764, 784). The air duct may allow debris (450A-D, 650A-D, 655A-D) to move along an edge (330, 530A-B) of the fin and out of the computing device. The fins may also be curved to promote the forcing of debris through the fin pack while still allowing the heat to be expelled through the fins.
