摘要： A device for characterizing a cell or particle includes a channel having an inlet and an outlet, the channel containing a moving fluid therein for carrying the cell or particle from the inlet to the outlet. The device includes a detector for detecting the presence of a cell or particle along portion of the channel, the detector including a first detecting position, a second detecting position, and a third detecting position. The device further includes a light source providing an optical gradient disposed within the channel and between the second and third detecting positions. A control system is coupled to the detector to receive and process detected signals from the detector. During operation, the amount of time that a cell or particle takes to flow through a first distance (i.e., its time-of-flight) is measured. The cell or particle is then flowed past a second, downstream distance in the presence of an optical gradient and its time-of-flight is measured. A comparison of the measured time-of-flights for the first and second distances is used to characterize the cell or particle. The method can be used to characterize and sort cells based on a biological property.

摘要： An illustrative plunger switch may include a movable contact assembly movable with respect to a fixed pair of conductors. The movable contact assembly may include a plunger having a rod fixed to a cage, and a shorting bar moveable with respect to the cage of the plunger but at least partially constrained by the cage of the plunger. The shorting bar may have contact ends that are in line with the internal contact ends of the fixed pair of conductors. The shorting bar may conductively connect the pair of conductors via the contact ends of the shorting bar in only one of an unactuated position or an actuated position of the plunger. A retention spring may be situated in the cage of the plunger for biasing the shorting bar toward the fixed pair of conductors.

In addition, the invention provides the locus for Td. Moreover, the invention includes germplasm and the use of germplasm containing genomic regions conferring increased yield for introgression into elite germplasm in a breeding program. Moreover, the invention provides methods of purifying soybean breeding lines for such traits as flower color and pubescence color at early stages, such as seed. The invention also provides derivatives, and plant parts of these plants and uses thereof.

摘要： Methods for detecting variant genes having a polymorphism associated with reduced metabolism of a substrate selected from the group consisting of a CYP3A4 substrate, a CYP3A5 substrate and a GSTM1 substrate in an individual are disclosed. The methods are genotyping methods to identify specific polymorphisms which heve been found to be associated with reduced metabolism of chemotherapeutic agents, such as cyclophosphamide and BCNU. Also disclosed are novel polymorphic nucleic acid molecules useful in the methods of the invention.
