摘要： A method for improving fuel efficiency testing precision in on-road vehicles. The method comprises: installing one or more dataloggers in one or more vehicles, each datalogger configured to receive fuel consumption data broadcast by an on-road vehicle's engine control unit (ECU); transmitting the fuel consumption data from the one or more dataloggers in the one or more on- road vehicles to a processor; and analyzing, using the processor, the fuel consumption data from the one or more dataloggers in the one or more on-road vehicles to determine fuel efficiency of the one or more on-road vehicles. The fuel consumption data comprises fuel rate data from the ECU which is transmitted through the one or more dataloggers, engine speed and other operating parameters from the ECU that are transmitted through the one or more dataloggers, torque sensor data which is transmitted through the one or more dataloggers, and traditional fuel log data.

摘要： Systems and methods are provided for in-situ determination of engine oil viscosity to allow for selection of an engine map by an engine control module (ECM) to match the detected viscosity. The new engine map selected based on the viscosity can correspond to an engine map based on an engine oil with a different HTHS viscosity than the prior engine map. Instead of requiring a reprogramming of an ECM when the engine oil is changed, an ECM can have access to a plurality of engine maps corresponding to different engine oils at a given HTHS viscosity and/or at different HTHS viscosities. The ability of an ECM to select an engine map corresponding to a different HTHS viscosity based on in-situ viscosity detection can allow the oil in an engine to be changed without requiring access to the ECM for reprogramming.

摘要： Systems and methods are provided for enabling communication, without breaching the engine firewall, between a datalogger located on one side of the firewall and one or more sensor devices that are located on the opposite side of the firewall. The systems and methods described herein can allow a transmitting node (i.e., a transmitting datalogger) to transmit collected data (from an auxiliary sensor) to a receiving node (i.e., a receiving datalogger) while reducing or minimizing various difficulties associated with addition of an auxiliary sensor in the engine environment. The transmission of data from the transmitting node to the receiving node can correspond to wired data communication or wireless data communication.

摘要： A device and method to extend the useful lubricant life in a diesel engine equipped with an Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system consisting of placing a chemical filter in an area of relatively higher humidity either in the EGR stream or near the intake manifold. In some cases, placing chemical filters in both locations would be preferred. This device may also be used in combination with a chemical filter placed in the lubricant recirculation system which produces a synergistic effect beyond the individual effects of either component.
