    • The present application relates to a new catalyst system for the polymerization of olefins, comprising a new ionic activator having the formula: [R 1 R 2 R 3 AH] + [Y]", wherein [Y] - is a non- coordinating anion (NCA), A is nitrogen or phosphorus, R 1 and R 2 are hydrocarbyl groups or heteroatom-containing hydrocarbyl groups and together form a first, 3- to 10-membered non- aromatic ring with A, wherein any number of adjacent ring members may optionally be members of at least one second, aromatic or aliphatic ring or aliphatic and/or aromatic ring system of two or more rings, wherein said at least one second ring or ring system is fused to said first ring, and wherein any atom of the first and/or at least one second ring or ring system is a carbon atom or a heteroatom and may be substituted independently by one or more substituents selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, halogen atom, C 1 to C 10 alkyl, C 5 to C 15 aryl, C 6 to C 25 arylalkyl, and C 6 to C 25 alkylaryl, and R 3 is a hydrogen atom or C 1 to C 10 alkyl, or R 3 is a C 1 to C 10 alkylene group that connects to said first ring and/or to said at least one second ring or ring system. The present application also relates to a process for the polymerization of olefins, preferably propylene, using this and other catalyst systems, as well as to polymers made by said process.

    • The present invention also discloses a homogeneous blend composition comprising; a) from 1% to 99% by weight of the blend of a first polymer component comprising a copolymer of 5% to 35% by weight of the first polymer component consisting predominantly of alpha olefin derived units and 65% to 95% by weight of the first polymer component of propylene derived units having a crystallinity of 0.1% to about 25% from isotactic polypropylene sequences, a melting point of from 45° C to 105° C, and wherein the Melt Flow Rate (MFR @ 23O0C) of the first polymer component is between 300 g/10 min to 5000 g/10 min. b) from 1% to 99% by weight of the blend of a second polymer component comprising isotactic polypropylene and random copolymers of isotactic propylene, wherein the percentage of the copolymerized alpha-olefin in the copolymer is between 0.0% and 9% by weight of the second polymer component and wherein the second polymer component has a melting point greater than about 110° C, wherein the first polymer component has less than 1000 ppm of reaction products arising from the chemical reaction of a molecular degradation agent.

    • This invention relates to a foamable blend comprising an in-reactor polymer blend comprising: (a) a first propylene polymer component comprising 90 to 100 wt% propylene and from 0 to less than 10 wt% comonomer, said first propylene component having a Tm of 120°C or more; and (b) a second propylene polymer component comprising from 30 to 90 wt% propylene and 70 to 10 wt% comonomer, said second propylene polymer having an Mw of 30,000 g/mol or more, and said second propylene-containing polymer having a crystallinity different by at least 5% from the first polymer, wherein the polymer blend, prior to combination with a foaming agent, has: (i) a Tm of at least 120°C; (ii) a MFR of 10 dg/min or more; (iii) a tensile strength of at least 8 MPa; (iv) an elongation at break of at least 200%; and (v) a ratio of elongational viscosity at break to linear viscosity of 5 or more when the elongational viscosity is measured at a strain rate of 1 sec -1 and temperature of 180°C; and where when the blend is foamed with a foaming agent, the foamed article has a density of 800 kg/m 3 or less.
