    • A system for analyzing a plurality of samples (202) containing a dispersion of one or more incompletely miscible components in a continuous fluid phase comprises a vial receptacle located at a first location, an image capturing device (102) directed at the first location, a light source (112) directed at the first location, and a programmable processor (124) operatively coupled to the image capturing device and configured to detect a behavior in a captured image of a sample. The programmable processor defines regions of interest in a captured image, generates an intensity profile for each region of interest, and detects the behavior based on the intensity profile. The programmable processor defines the regions of interest by detecting a sample boundary in a captured image and defining a region within the sample boundary. The programmable processor detects behavior by calculating a Laplacian or a derivative of the intensity profile for the region.

    • The invention provides compositions for rendering a vitreous cavity visible during a surgical procedure to alleviate a structural disorder caused by the vitreous in an eye, and methods of using the compositions. The compositions are vitreous delineating agents that comprise a hyaluronan binding peptide linked to an optically detectable moiety. Such compositions can be in a formulation that may be a solution, a suspension, or an emulsion, and would be injected into the vitreous shortly prior to use. The composition may additionally contain a therapeutic agent, a diagnostic agent, or a chemosensirig material, in use, the composition marks or delineates the vitreous by binding preferentially to the hyaluronan that permeates the vitreous humor and binding little or not at ail to surrounding tissues such as the retina. The interface between the labelled vitreous humor and the non-labelled surrounding vital tissues produces a visible signal, thereby allowing a surgeon to clearly visualize the entire vitreous cavity and distinguish it from vital ocular structures. Use of the method improves the accuracy and safety of a vitrectomy and thus prevents suboptimal outcomes or the need for repeated procedures. The compositions comprising chemosensing material are useful as long- lasting biosensors, which when used in the vitreous enable repetitive, non-invasive, in vivo measurements of metabolites or pharmacologic agents in the vitreous of animals or humans.

    • The invention relates to a threading device for the threading of a line through a ring member or the like that comprises a body, a rotatable arc-shaped element suspended in the body and having an opening, and a line holding means arranged to slide on the arc-shaped element, where the arc-shaped element is adapted to assume a first position with the opening in a first direction and a second position with the opening in a second position, and where the threading device further comprises transfer means adapted to transfer a movement to the outer surface of the arc-shaped element in order to rotate the arc-shaped element between the first and the second position. The advantage of the invention is to provide a threading device that is easy to operate, that can be used by both pushing and pulling and that can be manufactured in a cost-effective way.
