    • Peptides have been identified that bind with high affinity to body surfaces, such as hair, skin, nails, teeth, gums, corneal tissue, and oral cavity surfaces. Peptide-based body surface reagents formed by coupling a body surface binding peptide to a benefit agent are described. The peptide-based body surface reagents include peptide-based hair conditioners, hair colorant, skin conditioners, skin colorants, nail colorants and oral care reagents. The peptide-based hair conditioners and hair colorants are comprised of a hair-binding peptide coupled to a hair conditioning agent or a coloring agent, respectively. The peptide-based skin conditioners and skin colorants are comprised of a skin-binding peptide coupled to a skin conditioning agent or a colorant, respectively. The peptide-based nail colorants are comprised of a nail-binding peptide coupled to a coloring agent. The peptide-based oral care reagents are comprised of an oral cavity surface-binding peptide coupled to an oral care benefit agent. In all these compositions, the peptide may be directly coupled to the active agent or the coupling may be via a spacer. Personal care compositions containing these peptide-based conditioners and colorants are also described.

    • The present invention relates to compositions and methods for microRNA (miRNA) expression profiling in plasma of colorectal cancer. In particular, the invention relates to a diagnostic kit of molecular markers in blood for diagnosing colorectal cancer, monitoring the cancer therapy and/or treating colorectal cancer, the kit comprising a plurality of nucleic acid molecules, each nucleic acid molecule encoding a microRNA sequence, wherein one or more of the plurality of nucleic acid molecules are differentially expressed in plasma of colorectal cancer and healthy control plasma, and wherein the one or more differentially expressed nucleic acid molecules together represent a nucleic acid expression signature that is indicative for the presence of colorectal cancer. The invention further relates to corresponding methods using such nucleic acid expression signatures for identifying colorectal cancer as well as for preventing or treating such a condition. Finally, the invention is directed to a pharmaceutical composition for the prevention and/or treatment of colorectal cancer.

    • The present invention relates to improved aqueous fuels for hydrogen generators and a method for using them in the production of hydrogen. The present invention also relates to a system of using the subject aqueous fuels to generate hydrogen gas for use in a fuel cell or other device. The subject fuels contain a mixture of boron hydrides, at least one of which is a metal salt, including metal borohydrides, higher boranes and metal higher boron hydrides. The subject aqueous fuels contain a mixture of boron hydrides having a positive ionic charge ( + IC) to boron ratio of between 0.2 and 0.4 or between 0.6 and 0.99. Preferred fuels contain a mixture of boron hydrides having an ( + IC) to boron ratio between 0.2 and 0.3 or between 0.7 and 0.8. Mixtures containing a metal borohydride also contain a metal hydroxide to stability it against premature hydrolysis in the aqueous fuel media.
